Hi Mamas,
I have a couple of questions, regarding bone broth soup, etc.
I hope you can help me.
I need to know if this would be safe to eat, more than anything.
We had an entire chicken last night.
I took all of the bones, with the mid part placed in the pressure cooker (an old one)
brought it to a boil. Then got scared of burning the place down, so I turned it off.
Woke up 4 hours later, the pot was still hot, brought it to a boil again, went back to sleep
after turning it off. Woke up again, brought to a boil, then turned it on low/simmer.
Originally, it had something on top, now its gone. And the place smells like
chicken soup.
1) I tried breaking the bones, but they were too tough, I was only able to break 3 small ones, and I saw some brown stuff inside, is that the bone marrow?
2) Can we drink this or use it to cook something else, since it has not been refrigerated?
I originally squeezed a lemon into the pot, as well as some sea salt.
I was scared that if I left it on simmer the water would evaporate, and I would burn the place down while sleeping...
3) Do I strain it, then I can place some veggies into it to make soup?
I originally left some of the meat on the main part, to give it more flavor.
I have never done this, so please help me out, can we eat this or not, will it have bacteria in it or will it be ok?
Many thanks!![]()
Blessings!
