New pee accidents in my 5.5 year old son. Advice?

Recently my son who is 5.5 started having pee accidents. He says he doesn't know it's happening. This is VERY unusual for him. He still stays dry through the night (has for years). He pees regularly and drinks only water throughout the day.

Today he peed right before piano lesson. Then he finished and played on my iphone while his sister had her lesson. 45 minutes after he last peed, he jumped up and ran to the bathroom and had an accident.

I took him to the ped last week as I was worried about possible bladder infection - the test was negative and they didn't find anything worrisome. A friend has suggested I maybe take him to the urologist which sounds like a good idea.

I am of course worried. I'd love some words to help me figure this out and ease my mind.

As strange as this sounds, constipation can cause urinary incontinence and, you may not know he's constipated.

My dd had this happen.  She started having wetting accidents.  Took her to the dr and he requested an x-ray to check her bowels.  He said constipation could be the cause.  I did not want the x-ray and, I didn't think she was constipated - she pooped everyday.

But, the wetting herself continued so I agreed to the x-ray and was shocked to find she was completely backed up.  She was pooping daily but not fully eliminating.

So, we started her on Miralax and within days, not only did she poop 5 times a day but, once that was all out, the wetting stopped.
