I have a son who is always sick

Thread Starter

My son is 8 and is always complaining of being in pain and having head aches. Last night he claims he threw up 4 times... he did go into the bathroom but I am unsure if he actually threw up. He misses a lot of school. I don't know what to do with him.

Every night he wants ice packs on his neck and back.

I took him to dr and they did an extensive blood testing and physical and found nothing.

Where do I go what do i do?

Where do I start?

Could this be food allergies If so how do I determine this?

Could this be serious?

He is chronically constipated and is on miralax daily for it... I have looked into candida and it seems to fit him tho I don't know where to go from here.

Thanks for any ideas or help... I am at my wits end.

have you considered Lyme or another tick borne illness? both of my little brothers at one point in each of their lives complained of similar issues, neither of them had a traditional rash, the doctors told my mom she was crazy for demanding a test, and both times she ended up being right.  i also have had Lyme, and the symptoms are really strange and somewhat non specific.  you just start feeling continually more "off" and in pain, and you really do feel like you are crazy because there was no particular illness i "felt" like I had, i just felt awful...i ended up going to the ER because i ended up being in so much pain...and i did get a rash, i just thought it was a spider bite and didn't think anything of it. i would get him tested for that if you think it's even a remote possibility.

or if you really think it might be candida, there is a really good thread on here that you can find called "healing the leaky gut".  there is a ton on info in there about where to start and what to think about.

I would ask for a referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist or pediatric neurologist depending on what the main complaint is. All the blood testing and physical will tell you is that he does or does not have an infection. A specialist will look at so much more.

When my daughter was ill, we looked at reflux on an upper GI, they did an ultrasound, they did an MRI and eventually we got a diagnosis of pediatric migraines. With proper medication life is so much better.

My son is currently ill a lot. They just completed an upper Endoscopy and feel he has either a condition know as EE that is related to allergies, or severe reflux. We are still trying to figure his issues out.

With both kids we made a stop at the allergist to get skin testing done.

We are also taking my son to get evaluated by a child therapist for anxiety that may be causing his upset stomach.
