I use it as a healthy alternative to a drizzle of olive oil or pat of margarine on salads and steamed vegetables, but not every day. To be honest, I don't remember why I started doing it, but I've read multiple times that the typical cooking oils we use cause an imbalance of fats, and we need to replace some of these oils with omega-3 rich oils to compensate (but not for cooking, of course - never heat flax oil).

I can tell no difference on days I've eaten flax oil vs. days I haven't. I don't know anything about an estrogenic effect. That's scary, though the more other foods I hear about containing estrogen-like properties, more justified I feel in occasionally having tofu.
