Help with Soy Isoflavones

Hi to all

OK so  I have been bouncing around on all of these boards hearing stuff about these SI.  Ok so here is my dilemma, please I need help.

I just bought a bottle of the 40 mg pills.  I have been having a really weird af this month-  thurs- spotting, fri- medium flow, saturday light- sunday- none, monday and tues- spotting.  WTH!  I am usually a full blown af gal.  So I wanted to give this soy stuff a try as i hear it helps with getting pg.  Can i start it today even though i am TECHNICALLY on cd6?  My af is like 33 days.  SHould i still take 80 mg?  Should I take it 6-11?

DH and I are getting really frustrated after 6mos of trying and a mc in August.

I really appreciate advice.

I think you'd be fine to start tonight. 80 is equal to 40 of Clomid, so that's not bad.

HI!  I just heard of it!  It is called Soy Isoflavones apparently its like a natural version of Clomid.  It can be purchased at Walmart or GNC.  I got mine at walmart for $6.  From what I know taking it makes you ovulate sooner and better.    From what I read you take it on CD 1-5 or 2-6, or 3-7? and it helps with ovulation.  You are only suppose to take it 5 days, any longer can have the opposite affect.    I didn't realize when I got it you are suppose to take it early in your cycle and I got it at CD 6.   So I took it last night, and think I will take it maybe for a few more days.  From the boards I have been browsing a lot of people have had great success with it and get pg first time trying.  This will be my first time taking it, and I hope maybe my last :-) We have been ttc since June and I am getting frustrated.  Ill keep you posted on what happens.  I hope that this info could be of assistance!  Thank you for posting and helping me out!

Hi! It means cycle day. And it's not a stupid question at all! Cd1 is the first day of your period. There is so much abbreviations going on out there! I feel like all I been doing is posting on these boards since I been ttc. It is so nice chatting with people going through the same thing! I hope that you get a turkey day surprise bfp!! You might not even need to get the soy then! Best of luck keep me posted :)

But I should start af the 18th so why not give it a try... if it doesnt work I am asking my Dr. to start me on Clomid.... I also read that you shold take 5 40mg of the SI ... to be equilvilent to clomid.. and it should be taken day 3 through 7... I wish I had morfe to go on ... so many conflicting opionions about Soy...

Hi Shell77-

Well I took it for my last cycle- only took it for 4 days and not at the right time apparently.  I got AF this month so I guess taking it cd 6-11 doesnt work!  I took it for this month and started taking it on cd 2 through cd 6.  I only took 80mg of it cd 2, 3, 4, cd 5 i took 120mg and then on cd 6 i took 80mg. I didn't want to over do it just in case.   I heard that  It is the natural form on clomid.   I am not sure if I took it right, I just figured heck its worth a try.  I have read on a lot of ttc boards that many people have luck with it within the first few times trying it.  I am hoping that it works this month, the hubby and I are getting frustrated!

OHHHH well AF is supposed to start on the 18th... I am not having any signs (either way) so fingers crossed that It doesnt come!! But if it does come.. then I am going to start the SI I am going to take 200 mg cd 1 through 5 and see if that works :-) I am debating cd 1 thru 5 or doing cd 3 through 7  .... but I am sure I am doing the fullest dose I have read about. I hope this works for you this month Lots of Baby Dust goodvibes.gif sent to you!! let me know how it is working .. I am so curious if this works !!

Ladies,

I was asked to take 120mg on days 4th, 5th and 6th.... I went to wholefoods and they only had 500 mg. The person at wholefoods assured me that the dosage wasn't huge (the actual dosage on the bottle says take 2 capsules daily ..so 1000 mg for estrogen balance)

So I took 1 a day for 3 days....

Do you think I harmed my cycle this month?

Oh wait..this is what the bottle says:

This is what the dosage says:
Soy(bean)  500 mg
5% isoflavones, 25 mg

So does it mean I only took 25 mg of Soy Isoflavone and not 500?

Ive read a lot of SI forums and boards and there are a lot of debates... But everyone says to go get the ones from wal-mart ... the brand is spring valley and they are 6 dollars... best days to take them are 3 thru 7 .... a lot of people are taking 200 mg... But I think I am only going to take 160 to start.... When I finally get my AF ... I was supposed to start the 18th and I am late... but all my test are BFN ... Ugh so frusterated!!

I am also about to start on the Soy on the next cycle. I just went this morning to the supplement store and bought a bottle of the Soy Isoflavones I plan to take 80mg for 5 days starting on CD 1, I did a ton of research in the last few days and alot of people have success with that dose, I also bought a bottle of Maca capsules and plan to take 2 per day, daily until I get a BFP, I will also be taking  Evening primrose oil 1,000mg from CD 1 till I see detect the big O, due to lack of  EWCF at that time. I already take a great prenatal so I got the Folic Acid covered there.

And because it can't hurt and worked for my last pregnancy I am going to buy another tube of Preseed.

I suffered from major fertility problems for almost 20 years and didn't figure out that the only thing keeping me from getting pregnant was my stupid dairy allergy, the doctors tried to tell me I had PCOS and never even considered food allergies. We got pregnant with our 3rd daughter on the first try after I removed dairy from my diet.

This time I am just hedging my bet due to a delay from breastfeeding. Our girls are 8 and 6 years apart. I'd really like to have 2 closer in age.
