hello all

 

We are working on establishing a new alternative school in the Pennington/Princeton area called the Peaceful Valley School for Natural Learning.  We are holding an initial information session on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, 7pm at the Mercer County Library, Hopewell Branch.  This meeting will be to share information about the school, do some brainstorming, and gauge interest of prospective students as well as to see if people are interested in helping create the school.

 

We have a basic website at www.peacefulvalleyschool.org with additional information about the school, and below you will find a brief description. 

 

We would love to see any of you at our inaugural meeting, but if you can't make it, please contact me and let me know of your level of interest.  This meeting will be a key factor to determine if we move ahead with the project, so we need to determine if there is enough interest to move forward.

The Peaceful Valley School for Natural Learning

 

The Peaceful Valley School will be a place where children can learn at their

own pace and study what interests them. The school will be a small, safe, and

nurturing place for children in grades K-8 to explore and pursue their love of

learning, facilitated by a staff of caring teachers and volunteers.

 

Some key features which will make our school unique will include: creative,

project-based learning, hands-on activities, frequent field trips and outdoor

activities. The school aims to be a healthy and forward thinking

organization.

 

Peaceful Valley School plans to be a democratic community, with school

meetings where all attendees can participate in school governance. We advocate

respect for oneself and others, and will have a strong focus on supporting the

environment, with an emphasis on sustainability and green living.

 

We are currently working on establishing the Peaceful Valley School for

Natural Learning in the Pennington, NJ area and are in the process of refining

our philosophy as more participants become involved in planning the school.
