Seeking speech therapist for 3-year-old -- South Jersey area (Camden County)

Thread Starter

I'm currently researching speech therapists for my 3-year-old DS.  I called my pediatrician and got a small list from them but I noticed that they all seem to be hospitals, such as Children's Hosp in Voorhees, etc.  I'd much rather prefer him to see an individual therapist in an office setting rather than having to go to a hospital for the therapy.  I'm assuming there is also pediatric vs adult speech therapists as well but not sure.  We obviously are seeking a pediatric therapist.  This is all new to me and I have no clue how to determine if a therapist is good or not other than word of mouth.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas of a reputable speech therapist in my area for children, I'd love to hear about them.

We love our speech therapist.  However, they don't take insurance.  We had our son evaluated at CHOP (with ins) and they accepted the evaluation and we've gone on from there.  It's Rizza Miro and Associates in Marlton.  They are right on 73 down the street from Whole Foods.  www.rizzamirospeech.com/

We see Sarina Hoell but they are all lovely!  It's a lot of fun for the kids and they even run support groups for parents.

Feel free to tell them the Foxx Family recommended you :)

I need to second the recommendation for Rizza. My ds saw her for about a year and a half. At his first evaluation he tested in the 3rd percentile but after a year he was re-evaluated and tested in the 58%. She's great- I definitely preferred her over the others- not that there's anything wrong with them- she just seems to have a special gift.

We used Early Intervention for our youngest dd when she needed ST, but I wanted to also suggest Weisman Children's Rehab (Marlton and Washington Twp). Our oldest dd went there for OT and I can't praise them enough. If any of our dds ever need therapy again my first choice would be Weisman.

Kelly - I've heard great things about them too but they didn't have Saturday hours when I inquired which is why we ended up at Rizza's.  Rizza does have a special gift I agree.  I do love Sarina and she is wonderful with my son but if she ever left, I'd go with either Rizza or Lori.
