Anyone have what seemed like their period but was pregnant?

I need some advice. I am on BC but me and my boyfriend don't use condoms. Last month I had a UTI and was on anitbiotics for it which they say stops the effectiveness of my BC pills. They said to wait about 4-5 days to have sex again w/out condoms. So we waited until about the 4th or 5th day I think. And since a couple weeks ago, I feel like I have the signs that I could be pregnant, but I'm not sure.

This has been going on for about a month-ish. And they're not my normal PMS symptoms at all and they've been going on even when I'm not even close to my period. I am constantly hungry no matter how much I eat it is never enough. I'm always craving certain foods, but in the mornings I don't eat breakfast because I feel nauseous. I've had sore breasts, and I get the feelings of nausea pretty often, I'm so tired all the time, I get headaches, I get body aches, my back is sore, my nipples are darker and the aerola is bigger & puffier (sorry for TMI) and I have those little white spots around them all of the sudden, and I have to pee more often.

I 'started' what I think is my period yesterday. I had super light spotting all day. Today it was heavier, but not enough to fill up a tampon. Last month I also didn't really get my period either. It was just really light spotting. But I played it off as it just being my BC because sometimes I skip months. But like I said, I have all of these symptoms that I've never had when I've missed other periods before.

When I was talking to a friend about all my symptoms and stuff (shes a Medical Assistant and works at an OBGYN office) the first thing she asked me was if I'm pregnant. So I don't know. I'm going to take a test on Sunday when I see my boyfriend to be sure, but I wanted to get some opinions first :/ It just seems weird because I have ALL the symptoms listed for signs of pregnancy but still getting what I think is a period? So yeah, just wanted to know if anyone has had period-like bleeding but been pregnant?

Thank you!

Some people say they get implantation bleeding (which seems to be light spotting) shortly after conception. It could be that, or it could not.

Furthermore, some people have really light periods on and off while on birth control. I once went 6 months without a normal period because my OB/GYN switched me to a different type of birth control (to help with certain issues). During these months, my PMS symptoms were constant and were magnified  to the point where it seemed like I was pregnant: I was hungry more, my breasts hurt (a lot, to the point where if something even slightly bumped them, I was in tears), and I got nauseous on and off. But I wasn't pregnant...my body was confused by the birth control.

On the other hand, when we did start trying for a baby, I didn't have nearly as obvious of symptoms when I did actually become pregnant. I only suspected I was pregnant when I broke down crying over little things (and I am not an emotional person) and then missed my period and had no PMS symptoms (which is huge for me, since even if I skipped a period, I at least would do the whole crave chocolate and have crampy pains thing).

So, it really depends on what's normal for you. Maybe you are noticing these symptoms more because you're thinking about the possibility of being pregnant...or maybe you are actually pregnant. It's hard to say without taking a pregnancy test. If it comes out negative, you could  talk to your OB/GYN about this and ask about getting a blood test done to measure the amount of the hcg hormone in your body, if you want to try to have peace of mind.

On another note, I didn't test positive until I was over a month late on my period...but then again, I ovulate very oddly...so I threw my OB/GYN through a loop when they did a blood test to confirm my pregnancy and it came out positive and at completely normal levels for someone who was 6 weeks pregnant. :P

But the thing is, I never realized or even thought I could be pregnant when all these symptoms were going on. But I ruled out PMS because I've been feeling like this all the time for the past month and a half or so and I've never felt this way while I was PMSing or in general. And when i do get my PMS symptoms theyre usually only a few days before my period, not going on for a month or so. And I know it's not my BC because I've been on it for years with no issues or anything. Last month, during the week when I was supposed to get my period I got really super light spotting that lasted a day or two. And that was after me and my boyfriend had sex w/out a condom a fews days after i got off the UTI medicine. Ever since this last 'period' Im on right now which isn't my normal flow, I've been googling signs of early pregnancy and I've had every one of them & none of them have been related to any of my PMS symptoms before. :/ only thing that gets me is like I said, I'm on what I think is my period but getting every sign of pregnancy and have been for a while.

I understand where you're coming from. I also get UTIs very easily (to the point where they turn into kidney infections very quickly) and have found that they completely mess up my body's rhythm sometimes. I only offered my experience because if you aren't pregnant, at least maybe you'll have some ideas as to why you had the symptoms. If you are pregnant, well then you'll have a clear cut answer about what was causing your symptoms and all of my ramblings were a moot point. smile.gif

Again, if I were you, I'd try a pregnancy test and talk to my OB/GYN (even if the test is negative, it might help put your mind at ease to talk to them about this).

I do appreciate your advice alot, so thank you smile.gif i am going to take a pregnancy test on Sunday when I see my boyfriend. It's just odd because there's nothing different going on with me, no UTIs or anything like that, that would make me think that something's wrong with me. Even my boyfriend has never seen me eat this much or crave things (even on my period or PMSing) or seen me so tired haha. So he was the first to ask/make me think if I was pregnant. I have never in my life had symptoms like this! It's crazy.

I know the feeling of not knowing and being driven crazy by it. wink1.gif Like I said, I didn't test positive for pregnancy for quite a while...and since we were trying, it was definitely a head-scratcher. Hopefully you'll get a more definite answer soon.

I just found out I'm pregnant despite having what I thought was a full period.  I am in shock.  I had my period starting on 11/17, and it was just about the same as usual, maybe a little bit lighter.  However, I kept spotting lightly for a few days after and then, a couple of days after that stopped, I had a big gush of blood and some tissue (sorry for the TMI).  I thought that was really weird and that, coupled with the fact that my breasts were still sore, made me think maybe I was pregnant and miscarrying.  So I got a test and it was a BFP!  I continued to spot so I went to the dr. who drew blood (HCG showed me to be 6-7 weeks along) and did an ultrasound and saw one (maybe two!!) sacs in there but no heartbeat.  She said it could be too early or I could have a blighted ovum.  I have to go back next week for another scan.

Anyway, my point is, you could have what you thought was a full period and be pregnant.  The fact that you're on BC, though, might change things.

If I were you, I'd take an HPT!
