Do I need a colorwheel to mix colors?

Thread Starter
I just ordered some dye from Dharma's and was intending to mix my colors for more colors. Should I have ordered a color wheel to help mix? I'm a beginner. Also, anyone who has dyed infant/toddler lap t's - did you use RTD shirts or ones from the store? I know that the thread won't dye if it's not cotton but does that really bother anyone?

TIA,
April

Nope, you don't need a color wheel, just mix and guess, that's what I do, and I have a color wheel LMAO:LOL

This answer is a bit late...but I don't use a color wheel either. I like the guessing, every batch is special.

And I have used both RTD and store shirts (like the gerber onesies). The store shirts do have white thread, and it is much more apparent the darker you die. I have some dark purple shirts that look kind of wacky with the white thread. For tie dye or multi colors it doesn't really matter much, you don't really notice. I do like the gerber shirts because they are so stretchy, actually that's what my son sleeps in at night because they're a little softer than the dharma shirts.

Good luck dyeing!
