Toddler Chair Options?

My daughter is 32 months and driving me crazy. In the booster seat attached to the chair, she wants to be on her knees and ends up hurting herself (hitting her knees) or climbing out of the chair scary ways. If I take the seat off, she won't stay in the regular chair. Ugh! Options?

I'd just go with a regular chair. Once the novelty wears off, maybe she'll stay in it? We stopped using a booster seat when DS started doing what your DD is doing. But, he really likes to eat, so we seldom have problems with him staying in the chair. He kneels while he eats. You could also try something like a phone book (you can cover it to make it look nicer if it works!) or maybe a bar stool?

A lot of my friends have this chair: http://www.stokke.com/highchair.aspx -- that seems to go over really well with this age group (and can be used up to adulthood even!) but unfortunately it's crazy expensive.

DD is only 23 months but we've had the Stokke chair since she was about 6 months. She loves it. That said she doesn't really want to sit in it anymore. She'll start out sitting in it for dinner then gets out about halfway through and wants to sit on my chair. I like that it pulls right up to the table and it looks like any other chair in our kitchen. And that she can use it till she goes off to college if she wants. Expensive but worth it.

Both my 2 year old and my 5 year old sit in a junior chair from ikea similar to this one.  It's sort of like a bar stool and gets them up to table level.

I second the Stokke chair. DD loves it.

We have a couple from IKEA that work well.

Those highchairs are really cute. :-P My in-laws have that exact same chair from Ikea for her and she mostly stays in it when we're there. I think part of our problem is that I'm trying to run around the house doing other things while she's eating (in the morning mostly when we're trying to get going) so she doesn't want to stay in. I think it'll get better once we're finally out of school. Just frustrating for the time being.

Could you feed her at a kid-size table (or even coffee table, end table, whatever you have) when you're not able to sit at the dining table with her? DS stays at the big table, but only when we're there too. If we're all over the house, he eats at his kid table (standing up, because that's what he prefers) or even standing at the kitchen counter. I don't know why but apparently sitting at the dining table alone is unappealing to him.

THIS ONE is very nice but pricey.  They have all sorts of colors.

I really like our trip trap, which resell for so much money used that I ended up buying new. Super adjustable, has a strap that my 2 year old loves to put on, and keeps the kids in the right place for a long long time. My four year old (very tall, 50) is still much more comfortable in that a regular chair which puts him too low at the table. Both kids are good eaters with good table time attention spans. I think one of the reasons is that they are comfortable at the table and can reach their food.
