I read somewhere that Steiner recommended children to eat lots of root vegetables this time of year to keep our children nourished which I do for lunch/dinner, but what about snack time? any ideas?

I just looked through my copy of "The Waldorf Kindergarten Snack Book". I cant find anything specific to the seasons. On their snack menu they list:

Breads

Crackers

Rice Cakes

Tortilla chips

Veggie Soup

Oatmeal

Rice porridge and pilaf

Carrot sticks with hummus...(not very creative!)  Oven baked yam fries?  I found this recipe for sweet potato corn bread that might be good. http://houseandhome.com/food/recipes/sweet-potato-cornbread-recipe

What about soup for a snack?  Borcht is yummy.  I love this recipe for it: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/borscht-recipe2/index.html
