Providers in/around Triad?

Hi everyone!

I recently moved to Mount Airy and am interested in finding a new provider in the area. After my first prenatal visit at the birth center in Chapel Hill, I was told I was at high risk for developing GD - this is my first pregnancy and now I'm thinking it'd be best to have a provider closer than two hours away. I'm under the impression no local hospitals allow midwives to deliver, but can anyone recommend a "local" practice that has CNMs on staff as well as OBs? My goal is for a natural birth. I guess I'm just looking for any recommendations (or warnings!) for any practices in the Winston-Salem area. Thanks so much in advance!!

There's a new birth center in Statesville: http://www.facebook.com/naturalbeginningsbirthcenter?sk=info Looks like it would only be an hour away from you. I'm also new to the area but have been told by many that Winston hospitals (especially Forsyth) are not midwife-friendly at all. One mom friend just accidentally had her baby at home but she was set to deliver w/a midwife at a hospital in Greensboro. I can ask her for that info if you'd like it.

Thanks so much for the response! I had also found that the W-S hospitals are not midwife-friendly. I was totally unaware of this birth center in Statesville - I can't seem to get the website (linked on their FB page) to work, but still definitely keep this in mind. Thanks again for your response!!

I couldn't get the website to work last night either but it worked for me last week. I'd give them a call to learn more. :)

Yes, definitely look into that birth center! I am a new doula in the area, and have heard nothing but great things about that birth center!
