FLEAS!!!!

Thread Starter

My dog is getting groomed right now and the groomer just called and said he's covered in fleas! They also said the house is probably full of them and we need to bomb it. I'm really not okay with this. I go to great lengths to keep chemicals out of my house and now I'm supposed to fill the house with bug killing chemicals?! Is there any other way to take care of this? Help!!!!!

I have a flea thread in the main mindful home forum with some suggestions. Iam goign chemical route because they are attacking my 2 year old but after this we will be focusing on preventitive measures with more natural remedies.

once they are in your house it's hard to get rid of them.  You can try some natural stuff but unfortunately I haven't had luck with stuff like that and ended up using the chemicals and carpet powder.  Proper prevention is completely essential to keeping them off your dog and out of the house.  Vacuum, Vacuum, Vacuum, and wash everything.  Pay closer attention to your dog's coat and check them often.  You may be able to catch it sooner before she becomes covered in them again.

Vacuum daily, use the hose along the baseboards.  Dust the carpet with diatomaceous earth (wear socks or your feet will get really dry and itchy).  Bathe the dog daily.  It's a lot of work but it's how I nipped it in the bud this past year.
