Fundal measurement is a solid four weeks ahead...help!

So I'm 12w2d....measuring a solid 16 weeks. My fundal height is crazy high. I knew it was before I went in for my first MW appointment today, but I didn't realize it was THAT big.

So....is that big? I mean, at this stage in the game...how would you feel about that? I've been such a hormonal wreck this pregnancy, I'm trying not to freak out about twins, my MW was a love about it and told me we'll do whatever I want to do...but I don't know. Later in PG, I don't really care about fundal height...but when the baby is still so small....it is eeking me out to be measuring so large this early.

Tell me a story about your fundal height measuring this far ahead at this early in your pregnancy...what happened? dizzy.gif

Hello - sorry you are having an anxious time... I had twins the second time round, found out at 20 weeks but suspected much earlier, and one of the reasons was how much bigger I was (although I can't remember if my actual measurements were off). I was also INCREDIBLY hungry, very tired, and had kicking on both sides of my stomach simultaneously! Of course you're likely a bit early for that last. My instincts (and I am not an intuitive person normally) also told me from really early on it was twins.

Hope things settle down for you one way or the other.

Mine also measured a solid four weeks ahead at that point.  Part of it I think is growing faster since it is not your first pregnancy.  Also, for me, I am very short (5 foot even) and so there's really not a lot of torso room anyway...  Are you going to have an ultrasound?

I measured 4-7 (7!!!) weeks ahead with my last pregnancy. I am 5'1 and have a short torso so generally it was accepted that the baby had nowhere to go but out. She measured average in my early ultrasounds and at my mid-pregnancy ultrasound and I had a 9lb and an 8lb baby prior to her. After she dropped, I looked big and measured larger, but only by a few weeks which didn't seem too unusual for someone having her third baby.

Well, I birthed a 10lb 6oz 21in (ok, so that's just over 1/3 of my height... wow!) baby. Had some dystocia, but with no lasting effects for her, thank God. I think that if her birth hadn't been so quick I could have moved into a different position and it is possible that she wouldn't have gotten stuck, but who knows for sure.

Yeah, I'm not really worried about it any more. It will be what it will be. If I'm measuring HUGE, like, really hugely huge, at my next appointment in December, I'll go in for a scan.

I think the reason it's so alarming to hear (and really, I'm not alarmed after a nights sleep!) is because I'm a couple inches shy of six feet tall and very thin with good abdominal muscles and my previous pregnancies I always measured so small.

Who knows...I'm hoping it's not twins, because my husband is honestly going to run screaming for the hills if it is (figuratively, obviously!) and this is a WAY surprise "oopsie" third..which is much, much easier to digest than a surprise "oopsie" third AND fourth!

Maybe it's quads or something like that? Wouldn't that be sort of exciting?!

When I say things like that to my husband he gives me one of those "you are crazy!" looks lol

A good friend of mine just had this, measuring 4-5 weeks ahead at 12 weeks (3rd kid). Had an u/s to find out and it is just one.
