Is there a way to encourage baby to STOP kicking certain area?

Ok, so this baby is continually kicking, elbowing, doing SOMETHING to my left ovary area and it hurts like hell. It feels  like a sucker punch whenever he does it and it feels like a menstrual cramp because of where he's doing it. I've tried rubbing the bone joint but that only seems to encourage him to keep doing it.

Anyone have any experience in successfully discouraging it or will I have to wait until he's out for some relief? This is day 3 of continual stabbing in that area.

Yes, it's definitely the baby- I have no cysts and no, my uterus is not contracting in these moments. It's some kind of sharp bone of his that keeps poking me. I know it because when it happens, I feel it moving around in that area.

If there's nothing I can do about it, fine, but I figure I might as well ask to see if anyone else has gotten baby to stop attacking! lol.gif

Oh and I'm 33 weeks along.

TIA

Try gently pushing it away. This will encourage the baby to move. You can also try changing positions, but other than that you are stuck with it. lol.

^^^ I've mostly had luck with that too. If I can pinpoint where it is that she's picking, and put a firm hand against that area, generally she'll move her feet (or hands) away and go somewhere else, even now at 38.5 weeks.

I never tried this, but I've heard of putting a glass of ice water where you want your baby to move away from :)  For me, pushing against my baby's movement just made him kick back! Sorry for your discomfort!

I have also tried this and they do show revenge to the cold. lol. I have also been told a flash light will encourage them to kind of move around. So I guess you can try that and see what happens. I have never personally tried that before.

Yup-- our baby girl will kick at a cold glass (or a hot plate) if I rest it on my belly.

I tried a warm coffee mug and rested it in the area for a few seconds and it worked!
