How to prevent scarring from a burn?

The other day I burned my hand while taking something out of the toaster oven without gloves :(  a small piece of skin came off.

After putting cold water on it for a few minutes, I put aloe on and I've been doing that several times a day.

Any suggestions as to what I can put on the wound to avoid or minimize scarring? It's been a couple of days already, should have written earlier.

My DS suffered a 3rd degree burn on the top of his hand. Once the skin was intact, we bought a pure calendula cream and massage it into the scar 2 times a day. I cannot believe how quickly it has helped to lessen the appearance and texture of the scar. I wouldn't put it on an open wound, but once the skin has grown back it will help tremendously with the scar. We use this one: http://www.smallflower.com/naturwaren/dr.-theiss-ringelblumen-salbe-marigold-salve-3.5oz-salve-9122

Castor oil is great for all scars, even old ones.
