need info on giving birth in pasadena

im due to give birth to my second child at the end of next summer and am new to the area.  it doesnt seem like pasadena offers any natural minded births at hospitals, it seems that the only option for having a non-invasive birth is a homebirth.  is this true for anyone?  i would love to hear about your experiences and what hospitals and docs/midwives you used.

Welcome!  I am a Birthing From Within childbirth educator and doula, but unfortunately I am new to Pasadena myself and still learning about the local birth options.  I have heard from several people now that the midwives at UCLA are the best option in this area so I would recommend looking into that.  If homebirth is an option, Kelly Dietzen is wonderful.

thanks so much for your reply! i hope we get some more posts soon.  i think ucla would be a bit far for me, but i am looking into a homebirth, would just feel a bit more comfortable with a birthing center option....

I'd encourage you to broaden your search. UCLA or other option really are options. You just have to make peace with traffic. Start searching threads for Los Angeles. (birthed happily with UCLA midwives) several other la hospitals have obs with good teputations

It's a bit of a hike, but http://www.reneethemidwife.com/ has a birth center in Santa Clarita.  Renee is amazing and does homebirths too.  Remember that your insurance may not cover all the costs of a hospital birth and that a homebirth mw will most likely be willing to work with you on price.  If you want a homebirth, make it happen!  I've had two and cherish the experiences.
