Hi, guys. Thought I'd join my new DDC.
Two weeks ago, a day shy of 23 weeks, I woke up to a huge gush of fluid and thought my water had broken. I went to the hospital and they did several tests (including looking at the fluid under a microscope and an ultrasound of the baby to measure his fluid levels), and everything came back normal - it wasn't fluid. They sent me home.
Two days later, I woke up to heavy bleeding and a large clot. Went to the hospital later that day and I'd apparently developed an amniotic leak between my two hospital visits, b/c they measured baby's fluid again and he had almost none. I was terrified and thought I'd have to have the baby that night, but between three to four rounds of magnesium sulfate, receiving a total of three units of blood, and constant hospital bedrest (sometimes without bathroom privileges, sometimes without food), and especially with lots of prayers, I've managed to stay pregnant and fever-free and baby has always sounded awesome on the monitor.
This week has been my best one yet. I'm still having occasional small bleeds, and leaking out water as often as I make more, but my last "big" bleeds were Saturday night/early Sunday morning. I'm hoping to stay stable from here on out. They're going to try to get me to 35 weeks, where they told me the risks from a premature delivery are lower then than the risks of developing an infection, at which point they will induce me.
So that is the Cliff Notes version. I've also been writing down in a Word document what's happening from day to day since this whole thing started, and that crazy thing is 15 pages long already, lol. But I just wanted to come in and introduce myself and give a bit of my story. :) This pregnancy was supposed to have been my second homebirth, but I am at peace with whatever may happen next.
