Extreme Hunger anyone?

Last night I woke up TWICE completely ravenous. I tried not to eat too much (saltines, some fruit) each time, because I don't want to gain weight too quickly. Tonight I decided to stuff myself at dinner with mostly good stuff to see if I wake up less tonight. I already wake up 2-3 times a night to pee, so I can't really be adding more wakeups already!!! Anyone else starting this? I am 11 weeks today. Will report back if my strategy worked.

I wish I was feeling hungry! I still can't kick this nausea, and when I do eat, I get full so fast. I've lost about five pounds already (not complaining!)... but I wish I didn't feel so sick and could enjoy food again.

I say, if you are hungry there is a reason- you need to eat! Just don't pig out on processed stuff... stick to the whole foods, and don't worry about gaining too much, it will probably even out in the end.

Ive been waking up in the morning very hungry

i get super hungry sometimes too. usually at night before falling asleep and in the morning soon after waking up. like my stomach is a gaping, empty hole. unfortunately, nothing seems to sound appealing lol. and then i manage to eat something and feel full and nauseous after a very small amount.

I woke up at 5am the last three days because I was too hungry to sleep!  Then I eat a big breakfast and am hungry again an hour later.  Anyone on a second (or more) pregnancy knows how long this lasts for?

I'm having the same problem as wanderinblues. I feel incredibly hungry almost all the time, but I can't think of anything at all to eat that sounds appealing, so I just get hungrier and hungrier and then soooo nauseated. Or, if I do eat, I eat three bites of something and feel sick. I wish I knew what my body wants that I'm not giving it!

I remember this happening with my dd and sometimes I wondered how much was related to getting up in the night. I wouldn't wake up from the hunger, I would wake up to use the bathroom and then feel hunger. We go a long time at night without eating, but usually we sleep through it. I used to try going back to sleep before eating, and then if I couldn't fall back to sleep after 10 minutes I would get up and have some protein. I fell back to sleep about 1/2 of the time.

I haven't had this happen with this pregnancy yet, but I'm sure its to come given that I'm growing 2 babies!

One of my girlfriends would eat a spoonful of peanut butter before bed every night so she wouldn't wake up from being hungry!

I eat a bedtime snack every night so I can get my prenatal down and don't wake up sick.  No matter how big it is I wake up dehydrated and starving, but with no appetite really.

I don't remember eating during the night until the end of my last pregnancies.  So I'm guessing it gets worse at the end, which makes sense. I say if you're hungry, eat! Might as well eat something nutritious, some protein seems like the best idea. I'd make myself a snack before bed. Maybe half a protein bar and some milk or something.

I woke up a few days at just before 7am.  I had to pee, was ravenous and nauseated, and couldn't stop thinking about . . . DTD.

We're a late sleeping family.  Never up before 9am, usually closer to 10am.  Very frustrating morning for me.

Well, I did not wake up from hunger last night, but I felt REALLY sick from overeating until I went to sleep. I think I will try the peanut butter trick tonight. That sounds slightly more sane than stuffing myself with too much food. I also do not remember waking up like this with my pregnancy with DD, except occasionally in the 3rd trimester. Not sure what is going on there.

Alicewyf, things are different for me this time around too, so I am wondering if I am having a boy this time?  One book I read said that moms of boys tend to eat more and that boy babies tend to be bigger.....

I've been usually naseous all morning, often til after 4pm & then I eat like no tomorrow.  I did wake up at 3am (and reminded me of my first pregnancy when I'd wake up regularly at 5, eat cereal then go back to sleep. Lol. and that was near the end of pregnancy!) STARVING & I knew if I waited til morning I would feel too sick to eat... drinking a big glass of milk was enough to settle my stomach & let me fall back asleep. We keep our house very cool so I can even keep milk on my nightstand. I usually don't drink milk at all but it's been a lifesaver during this pregnancy!

I think waking up at night hungry is totally normal. It hasn't happened to me yet, but it did happen with both DS and DD later on. My friend recommended a glass of whole milk if I wake up at night. I'm thinking I'll try chocolate milk and see if I can drink a full glass. :) During the day, I've started eating a protein lunch-sized meal at 11am and then another at 3pm. I feel almost normal after eating protein!

I was up at 3am this morning eating leftovers from dinner & a bowl of yogurt with cereal (since we're out of milk)  Lol.  What once would have been an entire meal is now just a little mid-night snack... I still felt starving when I woke up around 8.  The constant hunger is officially overtaking the nausea/throwing up, I think.  Unfortunately, i think the heartburn is starting already, though.

lia joy--I reccomned Mommy's Bliss Heartburn Comfort. I bought it through VitaCost but some stores carry it. It really helps with the heartburn. :)

same here! it's actually been really getting on my nerves. i was almost in tears last night trying to find something, anything to eat! i get so desperately hungry so fast! i really need to get to the grocery store and stock up on easy, fast, filling things to eat. i also need to start eating healthier. i already to eat quite well, but i've been slacking off lately in favour of fast and easy meals that aren't quite as good for me/us.

DP likes to tease/scare me with stuff like "well, you're eating for three!"

I named my stomach "Jeffrey the Subway Monster" from Men in Black. I just eat everything in sight, and I'm still left with this gnawing pit in my belly. I hate it.

I am STARVING ALL the time. I mean every 2 hours. I am also nauseous all the time too. I eat, because I am hungry and I must need too. I am not gaining…at all actually. I feel like a pig. I eat protein which I thought should stay with me for a while…but not so much. Now I have noticed that sometimes my brain confuses hunger and thirst. Sometimes my body is saying hey dummy drink something…so no matter what I eat I am still hungry!
