Can I do anything with this fabric?

My husband just bought a bunch of new work shirts, and was getting ready to throw away his old ones when I told him to stop and let me keep them. They are button up cotton shirts, and Id like to believe there is something I can make out of them, preferably diapers as thats what Im working on right now. They are plain white and not in good condition, so I wouldnt want to use them as an outter layer where you'd see it unless there isnt anything else to do with them. Any ideas?

*oops one of the shirts is 100 percent cotton the rest are 60 percent cotton/40 percent poly.

The most recent issue of Martha kids had several very cute different coverups/smocks made from mens button down shirts. It's not diapers but it's cute and useful!

The blend won't be absorbant enough for diapers but you could make it into a painting smock or dress-up clothes. How about cutting up the 100% cotton shirt and using the pieces as cloth diaper wipes?

oo I LOVE that idea! I actually have it on my list of art supplies to buy and this would be so much more fun! Thanks for the idea!

Quilt squares?

Strips for braided rugs?

Drees-up pretend clothes: I cut off the sleeves and collar and turned under the edges of one of DH's old plaid flannel shirts to make an overtunic for DS for SCA wear. Kept him warm and looked period enough for camping.

I probably should have removed and turned under the button and buttonhole bits on the front too.
