Questions about natural progesterone cream

Thread Starter

Hi Ladies.  I'm hoping some experts out there can help me with some questions I have about NPC.

My DD weaned about 2 months ago and I'm on my first full cycle post weaning.  My period came back in April (DD was 11m/o) and my LP had been 8-10 days, but nearly always 8, since my cycle came back.  I've been doing acupuncture and Chinese herbs, with no change.  A few months back, I tried natural progesterone cream and it didn't do anything.  On a whim, I tried it again this month.  I'm now 12 DPO (woohoo!), but I've tested negative this AM.  I don't think I'm pregnant, but I'm really encouraged by my much longer LP.  I stopped the cream today b/c I've never had an LP longer than 12 days.

While I didn't notice a change in my LP last time I tried NPC, I did notice that I ovulated much earlier the following cycle and that cycle's LP was the longest I'd had up until this cycle.  Is this a result of the NPC?  I'm wondering if next month I might have an earlier ovulation.  Should I use the NPC again next month?  I guess I'm wondering if the longer LP is really related to the NPC or more likely due to the fact that this was my first full cycle post-weaning.

Just wondering what other people have experience while using NPC.

Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have any knowledge to share with you, but I just ordered natural progesterone cream and am considering giving it a try to prevent an early miscarriage next time (my LP is 10-11 days when on Vit B6, but 8 days when not taking anything).  But I think I will ask for a day 21 test first to see where my progesterone level is.  Just thought I'd reply so I can "bump" your post to the top so more people will see! :)

I am on my second month of using NPC and have only been keeping record of my LP since I started the cream.  I'll share what I've noticed these past two months for what it's worth.  I'm taking it 2x/day from days 12-26 of my cycle (as per the instructions for pms/cycle regulation).  In the first month the day I finished with the cream I spotted a little, then four days later a strong menstrual flow (thus making the LP 16 days).  This month I finished the cream 6 days ago and so far no spotting or any reliable sign of menses coming other that slightly sore breasts (they are usually *very* sore).  I just did the calculations and, as of today, I am having another LP of 16 days this month -- unless I happen to be pregnant!  Obviously it's too early to tell...hoping to have the need to test next week end praying.gif

I would say your longer LP might be a little of both the NPC and the weaning.

I've used NPC in months we TTC and have seen longer LPs those months.  Generally, I use it starting 3DPO and continue for 10 days, test to be sure there isn't a BFP, and then discontinue.

Got a BFP at 2:30am this morning!  I couldn't wait to test, after so many days w/o symptoms of my period coming & then breast heaviness -- I just felt it was finally my month.   I do think the NPC made all the difference.

Good luck to everyone!

joy2grow: Yeyyy!!! joy.gif Wow, two months on NPC... what a success! What brand do you use? I'm going for my CD21 bloodtest this Friday and I have a feeling it's going to show I have low progesterone, so I'm busy looking into NPC!

Congrats, joy2grow!!!!  joy.gif

I have a question for those of you with experience with the Day 21 test.... I usually take Vitamin B6 to lengthen my LP (it is only 8 days without taking the Vitamin B6 and it increases it by a few days).  Should I try not to take the B6 during the month I am getting the Day 21 test?  Will it show inaccurate results of my progesterone level?

Thanks so much for sharing my happiness!  We had been trying for 6 months prior deciding to try the NPC.  I am 40 years old & DH is 42.  I used a brand called Premugest.  I purchased it on the web for $25 a bottle which was just enough for 2 months.  The site says they ship to every state but California.
