Hi Chickjones

Congrats, and welcome :) Your chart looks really good, so *fingers crossed* your test lines get darker and clearer every day!!! Can you go to your doctor to get a quantitative HCG test?

Maybe consider using a menstrual cup? I ADORE my Diva Cup!

I went and saw the ObGyn on Friday...this pregnancy is so different for me than any of my others. I have always been a homebirth advocate and tried to have a natural birth with my first. I ended up with a C-section on my due date, because of Gestational Diabetes and some other issues. Then my second was a VBAC at a birthing center in another country, and my son passed away a few hours before pushing.

Needless to say, I am now considered extremely high risk, and will be on a serious U/S and NST Regimen, starting at 16 weeks. Obviously I want to take every precaution, but it is so different that my past experiences.

They scheduled my C-section for 8/6/12, although I don't know if I will go down that road...however, they won't let me go over 39 weeks...so if the baby doesn't come before then, they will want me to do the c-section...and I am not confident enough that everything will be fine otherwise.

It is interesting to be so natural birth minded, and then to throw yourself into the system completely...

I understand. More than anything, I want a gentle homebirth. I have diabetes full-time, so that is out the window for me. I can't even have a birth center birth, Midwives will not work with diabetic patients. I have no choice but to do a hospital birth, unless we were going to go the UC route, which my husband adamantly refuses (and I understand why, given that my blood pressure went up pretty high last time). So yeah, being natural minded and not being able to follow what your heart says sucks.

Hi everyone! Congrats to you all!

I've bought my subscription to Mothering magazine when I was pregnant with my son, Joey, and have lurked here ever since. I was already active on another parenting type forum and decided one was enough for me (at the time!). The due date club there is pretty slow though (I'm sure it will pick up...), but I'm so excited and want to talk about our new bean with some other mommas so I decided to join here instead!

Joey will be two in Feb and is still nursing. My DH was hoping I would wean DS at 2, but we'll see... he actually may wean himself and if that's the case I'll let him go past two.

I was in the Air Force for six years and seperated shortly after I had my son (DH is still in). I had a very hard last trimester with J and had pretty bad PPD for the first year of DS's life so I want to do things different this time to minimize my risk. We will be have a hospital birth since assissted homebirths are illegal in our current state.

Hello everyone!  Very excited to be here.  I'm a 30 year old on my first pregnancy.  My husband and I were trying for 4 months and had some weird cycles, possible miscarriage, and low progesterone test, so when I got the positive test I was surprised but really relieved.  Now I'm just terrified of miscarriage, which I hear is normal for the first trimester.  I have my first appointment this Friday.  I'm also Rh neg and husband is Rh pos, so I've been lurking on those boards as well.  Otherwise, just feeling fatigued, moody, breast soreness, weird taste in mouth, and blood sugar jumping all over the map.  So, I guess you could say I'm doing pretty well!

I feel your pain about not being able to choose the birth you want because of medical issues.  Our number 5 was born at the hospital because of preeclampsia.  My dh just said a few days ago, if I start spilling protein, we are going in.  He said he saw the placenta and it wasnt a pink, healthy placenta like the others.  We have to have healthy babies.  That's what is important. Of course, the morning of my induction I didnt care about that.  LOL.  I still think I would have been fine at home...but....

I hadnt thought about the cup for menstrual needs. Thanks!

I too am very much an advocate of the benefits of natural, gentle, out of hospital birth, but am going the medical route this time. Mostly because of the money - if things go wrong and I gave to transfer I cannot pay both bills again. We're still climbing out of that mess from the first time. But also I'm just a bit gun-shy about circumstances repeating themselves. I felt so embarrassed and stupid being pushed through the hospital, being labeled a "transfer" because I couldn't do it. I just don't want that again.

If things go textbook this time the birth center may be an option for a future pregnancy.

Well, I guess I jumped too soon. My tests were significantly lighter yesterday, along with a temperature drop, and today AF arrived.

I'm encouraged that my body finally conceived (since it's never happened before), but still sad and disappointed. I was so very excited about the timing about this--about telling our families at Christmas, an August birthday, etc. But I'm trying to stay positive and am glad that something finally happened with my body, so hopefully next month it will be open to doing it again (but for the long haul).

I hope all of you ladies have happy and healthy pregnancies--you are a great group, and I'm sorry I won't be able to share along with you.

Ninetales, that's my story too. I feel ya!

Hi, my name is Rebekah. Been married for 2 years but together for 11 years. We live in a small fishing and artist haven in Alaska and our home is quite remote. We live a semi-subsistence lifestyle, organically garden, and are semi-crunchy. My DH works on the oil slopes and is gone half the month, so I feel that I am a single mom, part-time. It works for us (so far), for when he is home, we get him 100%.

This is my second pregnancy, our DS is almost 17 months old. We weren't really TTC, I was worried that we would have a difficult time to TTC #2 so I figured we would just "go with the flow" beginning this month (since I am still breastfeeding on demand, with no end in sight). It happened and we are so excited! I feel anxious at times, with the whole logistics of having two children and the needed transitioning of DS from the family bed (we've begun to sidecar, that is going well), night weaning (I'm game for tandem nursing) and we've begun actively potty training a few months ago (we did elimination communications part-time from 6 months onward).

The pregnancy with DS was quite an experience for me and I am curious to see what this one will be like, since I've heard each pregnancy is different. I had hyperemesis gravidum (extreme morning sickness) from 7 weeks till about 21 weeks. After that, it was smooth sailing, even the third trimester was relatively discomfort free. So I'm hoping not to have such bad MS this time around! We planned on a homebirth and after 24 hours of labor and 3 hours of pushing (posterior babe), we transferred. Very intense. But we were treated so well at the hospital, that we plan to go there again (we weren't impressed with our HB midwife and she's the only option). I hope to find a doula (I used to work as one and I was the only option back then) and do a natural birth. I look forward to getting to know you ladies and sharing our journey together :)

Aw chicajones, I'm sorry. It's great that your body is starting to move in the right direction, though, and I hope that you will get that sticky BFP in the month or months to come!!!

Hello everyone,

I just found out this morning! I am so excited! Our daughter is 18 mths right now. I don't even know how I figure out my due date. I know when I O'd so my estimation is that I am 3 weeks along. Still early, but hoping this kiddo sticks!

We live in the San Francisco area. I stay at home. And I am jazzed about another baby! I am not new to mothering, I just haven't been on this site since before dd was born I forgot my login!!

Good luck to us all!

ChicaJones, I'm sorry!

Welcome Dovemama.  Go to fertilityfriend and enter your conception date and it will spit out a due date based on that.  If we are counting how far along we are we usually include the 2 weeks before.

I'm so sorry Chicajones, but agree with Salleyrae about your body moving in the right direction!

Hi Dovemama- you can google due date calculator and enter in the dates of your LMP. Some will do it from date of conception if you know that.  Can't wait to hear what your EDD is!

Haven't had time to read about everyone yet, but I'm Colleen and I'm expecting number 2 on or about August 19, 2012!  I am 32 and DH is 38, and this is likely our last baby. We are very excited and a little bit nervous about how this is going to change our family and especially how it is going to affect DD, who is 20 months old. We all co-sleep and I still nurse ALL.THE.TIME, so I'm not sure if we are going to be able to sustain that.

When we talked about the size family we wanted and the spacing, the 28-30 month gap was pretty much EXACTLY what we were going for, so it's pretty cool to have achieved that without really trying. The timing isn't so great in one respect though, my mom passed away suddenly, unexpectedly, and without explanation in September. She was 56 and completely healthy and just collapsed one day.  The autopsy results are still pending, but they likely won't tell us much besides the fact that she had an enlarged heart, which we already knew.  It wasn't a stroke, a heart attack, a blood clot, or an aneurysm. So we are still in a state of shock and very much still grieving. I am hoping that this pregnancy can be healing though.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hello! I'm Nathalie and I'm 33. This will be our 3rd baby! DS1 is 4 1/2 and DS2 is 26 months. I just found out yesterday... well tested yesterday but I knew I was pregnant. The due date calculator says my due date is around August 22nd... 5 days after our 10th year anniversary!!! DH is pretty in shock as this wasn't really planned (and even though I wanted a 3rd baby eventually, 2 was perfect for him). But I'm sure he will come around... I'm hoping for a girl, but it will probably be an other boy... which is awesome too! I am in shock a little too... our lives are all over the place for now! We live in 3 differnet countries at this time. The one we spend more time in isn't where we will stay forever or come from and is also a country where homeschooling is illegal. So I was maybe planning on staying in the USA if any problems would come from that (we want to unschool)... or just go home in Cananda! So I'm busy all the time and can't wait for a simpler life... I'm pleased I found this group... being here far from all our family and friends isn't always easy! Looking forward to the journey! So, congrats to all of you too! joy.gif
