Signs and symptoms - Page 37

NewMumJoy, I'm in a growth spurt too!  At 16.5 weeks my boobs are exploding (and itching and tingling, which is weird).  Lots of uterine cramping and weird twinges and so forth.  And my preggo insomnia has returned the last two nights.  I was up and wide awake at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep.  I think it's related to the growth spurt since everything has been really quiet for the last two weeks in terms of symptoms and I've been sleeping through the night without a problem.  Now I'm up a lot more with cramping and general brain activity.

I'm excited though, since it's a sign that things are still happening. It was so quiet here in terms of symptoms that I was starting to worry.  But now it really seems like the little dude/dudette is growing madly.  I can't wait to feel movement though.

So, suddenly I have teeth/gum issues!  Yesterday, I'm flossing, and my gums start to bleed.  My gums generally do not bleed when I floss.  Then I take a closer look at my teeth/gums...and everything's starting to look a little effed up.  Seriously, I went to a new dentist for a first visit/consult and he said everything looked okay and now, two weeks later, I think I have gingivitis?  Luckily, I already have a cleaning appt. in a couple of weeks.  But still...I'm a little annoyed.

Sorry for the rant.

I'm also dealing with headaches, fatigue, and anxiety ... oh, and acne - yay.  Despite all this, I think I am feeling better in the 2nd trimester than I felt in the 1st trimester.

keuriweo, bleeding gums and even benign gum tumors are very common in pregnancy.  It's related to the increased blood flow.  There's nothing as far as I know the dentist can do about it.  You just have to wait to give birth.  It might make sense to give him a heads up at your cleaning so he can be more careful than usual and keep an eye out for something actually being wrong.  But most of the time it's just our crazy hormones.  Yay for weird pregnancy symptoms!

LilyTiger, yeah, I know that the dentist can't magically cure me or anything.  I just really need the cleaning, though, and, honestly, there's some discoloration going on at the gum line that I know I can't remove myself.  And it wasn't there a couple of weeks ago... If I don't get it removed now, I'm afraid it'll progress.  I just need to make sure I'm getting enough calcium, too, and everything should be fine.

(I'm less ranty about it now...actually, if I could ever fully wake up, I'd be feeling pretty good.)

keuriweo, I'm having the same issue. I was brushing the other day and felt like I was spitting straight blood, it was awful. That was the first time it happened like that, and it was sort of scary. But I talked to my sister about it and she said it was normal.  I need to reschedule my cleaning because I originally cancelled my appointment due to severe m/s.  My poor teeth, between m/s and increased blood flow/bleeding gums.  I hope I make it through this relatively intact.  I've also been getting bloody noses and I am so sick of the smell of iron  b/c of this.  I'm 13w4d and still have pretty bad m/s, I'm hoping that this wraps up soon.  On top of that, I've recently started getting headaches, which I'm taking as a positive sign b/c I know a bunch of people said they got a recurrence of symptoms, specifically headaches, moving into the 2nd trimester before things leveled off. So hopefully, just a little while longer before relatively smooth sailing in the 2nd trimester.

I had a few weeks where I wasnt having a migraine every day....and then back again every day. And the day before yesterday I didnt have one.  Woke up yesterday with one...and still doing okay. SO maybe that is what's going on here too.  I can only hope!!

Emilywoo, I'm 16w (my first) and I was just out of town for several days and eating out all the time. By the end of the day after dinner, I kept feeling as though I was going to pop. I really don't think I was eating excessive amounts, although the portions were larger than what I would make at home. Now that I'm home I'm feeling a little more normal, but even last night it happened and I had only eaten half of a mini (individual) veggie airport pizza at around 7 and some crackers and hummus at 11 pm. I can feel it getting tighter also at the end of the day with every sip of water I drink.

Thankfully no bleeding gums yet, but I can feel them pulsing at random times and sometimes after brushing. Also, I had some really long days when I was away, coupled with early travel times, so I was getting headaches, which seem to have gone away after a good night's sleep.

I'm always uncomfy. My undercarriage (funny if you saw bridesmaids) is always crampy. Now with the baby moving enough for me to feel it - it kinda hurts. Not like really painful - but like when you eat WAY too much and then button your pants over your stomach and they are too tight. That slight ache of discomfort. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm having the same problems!  This week things started feeling much tighter and more squashed down there.  We did bar jumps at the gym on Monday of last week and it was the first time jumping felt uncomfortable.  I went to a birthday party this weekend and had dinner there and had to stand up for like 15 minutes after eating because everything felt so cramped.  Argh!  And the eating normal sized meals is getting harder.  Fortunately, I'm making up for it with huge amounts of cookies and sweets.  My husband made cookies and treats for our deployed friends and family yesterday and I made him leave me a pan of rice crispy treats.  Bad idea.

I also may have just felt the baby for the first time.  I'm not banking on it, but just as I was opening this message to respond I felt two "thumps" on my uterus.  It was faint enough that it could have been something else, but I'm hoping it was movement.  Otherwise, things are awfully quiet down there.  Quiet and very squished.

yeah eating normally is getting hard for me also- I noticed I am starving, then have a few bites and am stuffed..  and sometimes 20 minutes later Im starving again..  !

I have been out walking quiet a bit, but my lower back is KILLING ME and the insomnia is becoming a routine-- most nights Im up from 4-6am..

ithappened - I hope that if you're getting out walking more, then it means that you (and family) are FINALLY feeling better???

The cramping that some of us are feeling might be that "round ligament pain" that's in all the literature?  Our parts are definitely expanding, so that would make sense.....  As for me, I've not felt much cramping lately but last night I sneezed unexpectedly while sitting crossed legged on the floor (I usually brace myself well beforehand), and HOLY MOLY!  That pulled something in my side and I was crawling around in pain/shock for a few minutes.  Everything returned to normal, but it had me guessing when I'll start feeling those stretches more often.  Enjoying my flexible days as they are numbered....

ended up having to go on antibiotics newmumjoy but finally turning a corner!

Yup, that's why I'm wearing my smaller maternity pants even though I could still fit into most of my regular clothes.  I also have some great jersey knit skirts that have fold over waists like yoga pants that are pretty comfy right now.  I still have that ache, but at least my pants aren't making it worse.

I noticed the tightness and ache-yness in my belly from my normal pants as well.  They still fit me, but were just uncomfortable.  So my friend brought me a bunch of her old maternity clothes and they are amazing.  I really, really like the low waistband pants right now, it makes my stomach so much more comfy.  I can definitely feel that there is something new taking up space down there.

I'm 13w4d today, and our symptoms seem to be tracking each other--still plenty of ms and, all of the sudden, headaches.  I do hope the headaches are just transitional and go away soon. One of the most glorious part of my last pregancy (besides my daughter, of course) was that my terrible migraines that I've lived with since I've been 12, went completely away.  It was amazing, and actually lasted the entire first year of my daughter's life, until I got my period back. So I've really been hoping for another migraine free stretch this time around (probably my last until menopause).

I firmly switched to maternity patents last week--so, so much more comfortable.

I felt exactly this way a week or two ago. I'm 17.5 weeks now, and feeling a lot more comfortable. Hang in there.

I also had a big growth spurt in the last couple weeks -- suddenly I am looking HUGELY pregnant. I love it. I was so tired of just looking fat ... And judging by how hungry I am, the spurt is continuing ...

I'm so jealous moremadder, that is what I'm waiting for!

Thebyr, that's exactly how I feel.  I just feel full and squished.  It just started this week after a super crampy week last week, so I'm guessing it's a growth spurt.

Moremadder, I'm still in the fat phase.  :(  I went to the gym today in a little outfit that at home looked cute and pregnant and somehow by the time I got to the gym just looked fat.  greensad.gif  I'm hoping in a few more weeks that I look sufficiently pregnant because I start teaching again and there's nothing like feeling fat in front of a room full of twenty somethings.

Veritas, you're so tiny, it might take a while for you to pop.  But for your sake, I hope it comes soon!  I can't wait to actually look pregnant either.  I bet we'll be eating our words at the end of the 8th month when we're huge and miserable.
