Kids Christmas wish list

Ah, it gets better every year.  Seriously what are these little people thinking?  Heres the most recent list

DD1

A - Z mystery books, just book A the library as school doesn't have it.  (Such an easy find... HA! )

Teni shoes (that's how she spelled it)

Jelery (she needs auto correct)

A tent that conekts to a tent that will fit in my backyard.  Real big so I can live in it.  Needs a tunnel (a picture was drawn)

DD2 I helped her with spelling

Princess book

boots, pretty ones

a doll with a dress

A bus tent (picture was drawn for this one too.  Good thing she wrote it out, otherwise Santa would have been confused... why does she want a block of spagetti?)

DD1 wants a DSi however it's been promised for her birthday and so she tried to sneak it on her list really small in case I looked.  I caught her cheating ways and told her that I already told Santa mom and dad would get it for her on her birthday.  You don't want Santa to be confused dear!  He's old you can't throw too many request at him.

They got up this morning to check to see if Santa already picked up their lists.  But we have a one week  policy on lists in case they change their mind.  They will too.  Last year DD1 couldn't decide if she needed a magnifying glass or a set of marbles.  I found both for a dollar so she got both.  What a surprise that was.  She thought the world stopped for her that day!  Then one year it was a toss up between a time machine and a jar of rubber cement since you can peel it off your hands and make it look like boogers... eh... what?

I'm thinking of getting them one tent and having them share it.  I'll get a decent one, they spend very little time inside and theres a good spot for it in the backyard.  I was thinking maybe getting them a Teepee kit but those things are pricey and there is no way I could make one and hide it.

What do your kids lists look like?

My son's list gives me a headache...  He wants the accelerator fan on the motherboard of his Mac G4 tower computer fixed.  I don't think it's a replaceable part, or available for easy/cheap purchase if it is.  Someone was generous enough to give him an XO laptop (the buy one give one laptops) several years ago.  It stopped working after a very short time for no apparent reason and he has been dwelling on that.  He wants it fixed but our family computer expert says that what's broke isn't cost effective to fix.  Nevertheless, ds has me looking up repair guides and helping him take this thing apart.  Still, it's sweet that he is asking for things to be fixed instead of listing all the latest toys and gadgets.

The toughest year was when dd was 5.  All she would ask for was a magic wand.... after all if Santa is magic he should be able to bring a *real* magic wand... and if she had a *real* magic wand she could just create whatever toys etc she wanted using her magic.  She refused to say what toys she would make using her magic.  Luckily I know her well enough I was able to choose some stuff that she liked.  Of course the lack of real magic wand on Christmas morning was disappointing, but I explained that probably Santa had a finite amount of magic and couldn't just give it away in wands.  wink1.gif

This year the lists are stunningly long.  How do my kids even know about all these toys?  Basically dd wants everything that her closest friend at school is into (make-up, fancy dresses, Barbie, Littlest Petshop etc), plus everything that her 9yo male best friend wants (Pokemon features high on the list), and ds just wants everything that she wants, plus extra knight playmobils and Mario and Luigi stuff.  Oy vey.

OP - I think the tent idea is awesome.  FYI I've come across a lot of diy teepee tutorials online... if you're interested....

Interested.  And so are the guys are work for some reason, I've had to offers to build the teepee for me.  Since I'm all for taking the easy way out, I'll comply with their offers.  I just have to get the stuff and probably do the sewing.  UGH!  I'm the worst at sewing.  Ive been doing it all my life and I hate it.  Hate it hate it hate it!  Plus I'm really terrible.  Somethings you just cant' master!

So far DD has asked for a book about stars (which I already had on the list anyways) and a felted ball. Knowing her, she'll probably add a few books to the list before long.

Whose kids change their minds (with tears in their eyes and a quaver in their voice) AFTER the big ticket item has been purchased?  My girls wanted to learn to ride a horse with all their hearts..... until..... now it's close to Christmas they want all toys instead.  Already bought helmets, boots, booked the lessons.  I think once they get on Snowflake for their first lesson they will be OK with it once again.

All of mine asked for plane tickets to Florida for Christmas.  We used to live there until about a year ago. I am excited, as my parents are both giving money this year, so I will be giving all three a card saying that we will be going for March break this year. :)

Other things asked for:

12 yo DD -

jewellery

3DS

books

GC to clothing store

doll clothes (yay!)

9 yo DD -

3DS

books

GC to clothing store

doll clothes  (seeing a pattern?? lol)

7 yo DS -

video games

video games

Love that both the girls are into Dolls! Same lists too... cute  And the DS... games!

After they wrote out these lists, they pooled their money together and actually bought their OWN 3DS. I was kinda proud, tbh even though I'd rather they used their money for something non electronic...

Well, they could have used their money for something else... though I like that they did that.  Pretty awesome of them.

DS and DD1 have both learned how to do PowerPoint presentations at school, so this year they made Christmas Presentations for me to watch twins.gif.  DS wants Legos and books (that's all he wanted for his birthday too).  DD1 wants and iPod Touch (yeah.... right....) and Kanani, the new American Girl doll (which I actually won at an auction a few months ago!)  DD2 hasn't really come through with any real ideas yet.

Well DH and I are going to build them the Teepee.  I told him about it and he wants in.  We've always wanted to build them something fun and I think this is a good way to go.

That sounds like SO much fun - building a teepee. If the weather we started getting this am continues, we will soon be able to build an igloo! Equally as fun, but not nearly as warm. I miss Florida! Sigh...

I think it will be.  Either way it'll be an experience.  DH and I don't do projects well together because he tends to not pay attention to details.  I can't stand that.  And he thinks I'm too controlling... which I am.

Haha...it's the opposite with my DH and I.  Please take photos of your progression. I would love to watch the work in progress. Sounds so intriguing! Also sounds like something my DH would like to do w our kids - in the summer!

You want the hair pulling and the smacks with the poles too?  Ha!  I have a feeling it's gonna get interesting!  Power struggles are pretty funny in our house.
