Weeeeirrrrddd!! I just went to the bathroom for a pee & immediately after I was done, I had the urge to push... a real, having a baby push, not a needing to poop feeling. There was no pain and it obviously doesn't feel like a baby was right there or anything, so I just went with it & gave a little push and the feeling went away. Has anyone ever heard of this before or had it happen? It was truly bizarre.

Oye, that does sound strange! But hey, why not. smile.gif

TMI, I know, but I've been really crampy today and now my intestines are really cleaning themselves out...after normally pooing a few times a week, and working really hard for it, I think I'm on 5 liquidy ones today. And baby feels different, lower, and is moving a lot, trying out different positions. Hrm...

I talked to my mother today about just coming up soon, instead of waiting for me to call and say something is happening, because knowing it'll take her so long to get here, I'm paying way too much attention to any little thing my body is doing, in case that's it...and it's driving me insane! But my little sister hs just gotten really sick, with some unidentifiable virus whose symptoms are similar to meningitis (it's not that, though), and so now is the added worries about her getting well, my mother being able to leave her, and especially bringing whatever she has up here for baby to catch. Great timing.....poor little sister.

However! DH is now working from home full time, which is so so so wonderful, AND my friend has invited me to make a submission to an art show featuring pieces by women war vets--I'm so excited, thinking about what to make, maybe using my belly cast. Yay! I totally, desperately need something other than this silly baby to think about.

Come on babies! We want to hold you and love you, so you should come out!

I also pay too much attention at all the little things. Last night I could totally feel him in the birth canal (aka vagina) and that was a little weird.. I don't remember feeling that with my other 2.

Okay good, I'm not a freak then! LOL! Shortly after that regular contractions started and lasted until about a half hour after I went to bed. My mom called to say that today is my Great-Granny's birthday and she'd be 107 so I should have the baby today. I think Blobby was trying to obey Gramma! This false labour thing sucks! DH even got all excited last night and couldn't sleep... he still has a feeling it's going to happen really soon.

Hello all,

I have been mainly lurking here but I wanted to finally come out and say HI! :)

I'm Kimberly and I'm 39 and some change weeks pregnant with baby #4.  I have 16, 12, and 5 year old boys.

Each homebirth ended with significant tears - a 3, a 3, and then a 4 with my last which I had to get stitched up under general anesthetic.

This birth will be a cesarean birth on Wednesday!!! I can't believe I will finally meet this little one!

I am birthing at a great hospital - Franklin County Medical Center in Greenfield MA.  I am having immediate skin to skin, lowering of the drape, singing our baby into the world, no separation from baby - the works!! I got to pick the birth date and I refused all testing.  They are great and have an attitude of "whatever you want".  I'm even delaying opiods or any other pain killer (I like to control my pain/have a high pain tolerance/and know I'd rather have some uncomfortable feelings than feel loopy).

So I'm a bit nervous but really excited to see this baby.  It's like he/she has been "here" the whole 9 months.

I really love lurking and now hope to be a more active member (at least for the next 3 days :))

Best to all!

Kim

okay so i think i have the cloth diapering figured out what i need to get

im getting 6 of the freetime one size Bumgenius AIO diapers with snaps

2 Econobum one size covers

4 Flip one size covers

12 small prefolds from GMD

and 8 newborn prefolds

one bummis whisper pant (nylon cover pull up for night time)

and then ill fill in what i need from there, i think this is a good start though.

what do you think

We cloth diapered all our boys.  I really like the Loveybums fitted (they have seconds on their website for good deals) and a wool cover (I get biobottoms off ebay).   I have a bunch of flats but now prefer the fitted since my boys were big nighttime wetters.  Also, the newborn milky poop blowouts get "caught" better in a fitted.

When they get a bit older I love the Aristocrat soaker covers (and these you can fold and lay flat diapers in).  You can also knit soaker covers or buy mama made on Etsy.  I don't put them in soaker covers until they are older and stop pooping at night (BMs are a mess to get out of a soaker!)

The newborn prefolds will make great burp clothes for later.

Sounds like you have a good varied stash going - I love starting with a bit of everything and then seeing what works for my kids and me.

Happy diapering!

Doesn't seem like a lot to me. For a infant size it looks like you have about 20 diapers, and 6 covers? I might add another dozen prefolds to the stash, but if you do laundry enough that should be just fine :)

As for diapers..

Here is what I have:

Newborn:

3 kissaluv 0's

4 hand-made fitteds

13 NB prefolds (on their way)

6 NB covers

Smalls/Infant:

3 Small Blueberry pocket AIO

3 other random pockets

2 random fitteds

24 prefolds

7 covers (1 Thirsties, 2 Bummis wraps, 4 Little for Now)

Plus 20-something cloth wipes.

I would like a wetbag and a wipes warmer, but they aren't essential.

Not that I am a spokeswoman for their company or anything..biggrinbounce.gif..

but the thing I like about Loveybums is that their fitted diapers fit 9 to 22 lbs - so you really don't have to buy the newborn or small size (i think this is their medium size.

I also got a lot on Ebay of them.

I like diapers that fit for the long haul, but then again they are a bit expensive - but I'm committed.

I use washcloths for  wipes and I had a wipes warmer - but I found that they were never warm enough for my babes - they would still cry.  Now I just run to the sink and warm them up before I change the babe.

I'm lucky because I have all these big boys to be my wipes warmers for me :)))

should i get another dozen small?  i dont want to get too many newborn ones because i was an 8lb baby and DP was an 8.8 lb baby so i feel like it will only be a few weeks before the newborn sizes are too small.  i also have 1 extra aio so total

7 one size AIO

6 Covers aio

and one pull up cover

12 small prefolds and 8 nb prefolds

Hmmm, I'm not sure.  How often do you wash?  My babes went through maybe 12-16 diapers in a 24 hours period (does that seem right to others?).

I never had any newborn sized flats - I only had the regular size and I would fold them smaller to fit into the diaper cover.

I have these if that helps:  http://babyworks.com/cloth-diapering/cloth-diapers/chinese-prefold-cloth-diapers-1.html

Oh and I do see they have three sizes now.  I think I have the standard size.

Well, another idea is to just try it out for a few days - make do - and then see what you need and order quick - maybe even have priority shipping.

Good luck!

I like diapers like that too.. but I am using all hand-me-downs, besides the NB prefolds that my mom is getting for me. Then I will use them as doublers.

I would get another dozen of small/infant size if you are washing every other day. And I wouldn't worry too much about newborns if you are expecting a larger baby either.

the newborn size never really fit my 9 lb 3 oz baby - GM prefolds and Thirsties covers were borrowed from a friend and when tried at 3 weeks they were way too small :(   I REALLY like the GM fitted workhorse.  If you get the snap free version and use a snappi you can make the size more adjustable.  Example, the "small" could totally work in the early weeks by folding the top over and using a snappi or pins (skipping the newborn size).  I personally think the red edge workhorse (medium) would get the most use in my house (big babies - could probably use by 1 month).  http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/workhorse.htm

...am I reading this right? You're having a c-section without painkillers? I'd like to think I'm a pretty tough cookie but that is well beyond what I think I could reasonably bear. bigeyes.gif

It was a few years ago that I last bought PF, but the ones I have are green stitch (infant), reds (med?), and browns.

I'll likely have to replace covers sooner or later, in Meds+

I have small babies, from 6-7.5 lbs, so I am not too worried about getting some NB size, especially the inexpensive kind (PF). But, it is totally possible to just use sposies or a bigger diaper for the first few weeks, give or take.

You'll get along fine if your mom can't make it, my mom and I have a great relationship...but she has always been completely worthless after I have children. With my first she worked all day and couldn't help, with my second she had a breast augmentation 2 or 3 days later, and yesterday she just told me that she scheduled a hysterectomy for this thursday. Luckily, my parents are divorced and my dad and stepmom will be here.

Well, I worked all weekend...2 12 hour shifts, I'm exhausted, was up all night with DD2 and my friend that's due the 14th is already hitting me up to see if I work, in case she goes into labor. My house is a disaster (how does that happen when no one is here all freaking weekend?!?)
