New to everything!!!!!!!

Hi there, I am 41, I have never been pregnant, I have never missed a period and I am 11 days late as of today. Could I be pregnant or going through the beginning of menopause? I have no other symptoms except this really heavy feeling in my abdomen and I do remember my nipples being somewhat sore not long ago but that is not out of the ordinary. I had dealt with and come to a happy place of acceptance inside with the fact that I would not have kids even though I always wanted them. I have never been told that I could not have babies by a doctor. It just never happened so I presumed that Someone with a lot more power and wisdom than me made the decision for me. Now, 11 days; my brain is spinning.

What do you think?

I think you should take a pregnancy test.  You're plenty late enough to do that.  Just get any cheap test, and take it.  That will answer everything.

I am having a lot of apprehension in believing that this could really be true. Every time I go to the bathroom I expect to see blood. I have been disappointed so many times that I am afraid to hope.

Took a test. Negative!!!!! Still no period however. I guess I just wait?

I am too young for menopause right?

I'm sorry your test was negative. I would go to the Dr.s if your worried. My mother started perimenopause at 35 so you could be starting the menopause process. I actually thought I was starting to go through perimenopause and really didn't think I was pregnant again this time. My plan was to first take a pregnancy test and if that came back negative then I would have made an appointment with the Dr. to do some blood work. My test came back positive. You could also wait a week and try another pregnancy test again with first morning urine just in case you ovulated late and your still too early for the test.

I think someone with a lot more power and wisdom than you made a decision to bless you with early menopause  J/K!  If it keeps up, I'd see a well-woman care practitioner to check in.

Okay so here is what I have this morning.

• A constant fullness in my lower abdomen and my pants are tight.
• Slight waves of nausea and heartburn (heartburn is stronger in the afternoon)
• burping, okay gas in general
• sneezing (the last few days)
• Thirsty
• gas
• Sore nipples at times and one of the aeroleas is huge and puffy.
• NO BLOOD AT ALL!!!
• My brain feels tired as if my head is about to fall all the time.
• Movement that I can't explain on the inside of my abdomen like tickling from the inside out

Earlier this month I couldn't believe how great I felt, like you could run me over with a truck or call me every name in the book and I would be just fine with it. And (excuse this but....) horny!!!!! Holy cow. I guess I can speculate forever but only a doctor will tell me the reality. I'll wait a couple of days and then if nothing happens I'll make an appointment.

Every month in my history book that I have been super super "horny" were the months I conceived! I know, I know, not what you want to hear! I would buy some cheap tests and test every 3 days.

When my mother was your age, she took 3 pregnancy tests, all negative and concluded she must be going through early menopause like her mom. My brother was definitely not menopause! He just liked keeping a low profile I guess... It took a blood test to confirm pregnancy. Fingers crossed, I'll be waiting to see what happens! Good luck.

The worst part. Convincing my self that I am not so that I (and my husband) won't be too disappointed.

Then convincing myself that I am.

Feeling like I am but not really knowing the truth.

Relying on intuition.

Thinking back and connecting the possible dots.

Asking myself if the symptoms that I feel are real or psychosomatic because I know what is supposed to happen.

Holy emotional roller coaster.

I realize that I may be in for a big let down.

I also know that it is not in my hands and if I continue to have faith It will be the way it should be.

 I so understand this. DH and I went through 5 years of infertility before we got pregnant with our first. Also when my sister found out she was pregnant and didn't want to be and I so desperately wanted to be pregnant I had all kinds of  pregnancy symptoms and so so disappointed to find out it wasn't meant to be at that time. I didn't even have a period the whole time she was pregnant but got it the day she had the baby! Crazy. Yes huge emotional roller coaster! I am crossing my fingers for you and can't wait for the update.

I went to the doctor yesterday. He did an internal exam and said that my cervix and uterus did not feel like a pregnancy so it is unlikely that I am pregnant. The results of the blood test should be back today but my balloon is pretty deflated. I guess I made it all up in my head (except the no period thing, still haven't seen a drop of blood).
