Appointment check-ins! - Page 19
I had my first "weekly" checkup yesterday. I think maybe I ran a little late on those, since I'm due July 23rd? But they're midwives, so they're pretty hands-off anyway.
Baby is still vertex, which it's been since forever ago, at least the last two months. I'm so grateful for that. It was sitting ROA, which isn't optimal but it still has time to move. HB in the 140s-160s. My BP was 130/72, which is still good. I know I'm not totally out of the woods for pre-eclampsia yet, but I'm getting there! I told the midwife that I'm intensely curious to know if I'm dilated or effaced at all, and she was pretty much like, "Yeah, I get that, but what would we do with that information if we had it? Nothing." Oh well.
She scheduled me a growth scan for next Monday, which will be my third ultrasound for this pregnancy. I'm glad I'm seeing midwives, so that I won't get the hard-sell from an OB about how huge my baby is and how I need to induce ASAP or else I'll be stuck getting an emergency c-section for an 11-pounder. She also went ahead and scheduled an NST/BPP for 41 weeks in case I go over, and will be scheduling an induction for 41w6d. Obviously, those will be canceled if I give birth before then, but she wanted to get it out of the way in case their schedule backs up.
I had my 39 week visit last Thursday - everything was normal.
One of my midwives is on vacation, so that just leaves one available. She told me what her on-call days were & when she wouldn't be there. I can plan when this baby comes & just go when she's there right? I wish! I really hope baby decides to come when she is on - I just don't want an extra thing to think about!
39+6 checkup today. Saw a different mw today, so I was nervous, but she was super nice and everything seemed good. The nurse is taking my bp manually now (not sure why other than I think the machine makes me panic, and they seem to have picked up on that) and it was 124/66. This was a relief because at CVS last night, the reading was super high. I know that cuff is too small for me (I have to basically jam my arm into it) but I can't resist trying it every so often. I disclosed that # to the mw and explained about the cuff, and she didn't seem concerned.
I succumbed to the curiosity/temptation of having a cervical check. MW said there is some evidence that an exam/stretch can help keep you from going postdates. She said my cervix was ripe and about 2-3 cm, and she could feel baby's head but she wasn't real far down yet... basically the type of non-"information" that I had tried to be prepared for. Still, I'm glad I did it, and so far I am doing a good job of reminding myself that none of this means I'm going to go into labor imminently.
Scheduled a 40+6 appt. for next Tuesday, and an NST for Wednesday. An induction will be scheduled for 42w if needed. I hope I won't be keeping any of these appointments, but something tells me I will still be pregnant at least into early next week... let's see if I'm right.
I had my 40w2d appt yesterday. They did the fetal monitor for 20 min - everything looked good. Midwife checked me - I was 3cm, 50%, baby was -2. So, things are starting, but not very far at all. We scheduled an induction for next Thursday (41w2d). I really hope we don't get that far.
