Nursing Mamas TTC -- December - Page 6

Hi ladies, I took a break from this group and from trying to get my cycles under control. We're not TTC but I guess I'm still trying to gain some control. DD is 2, still nursing at night and my LP is still somewhere around 10 days. I'm going to give B6 a chance next cycle, just to see what happens. :) Good luck to all of you!

Ahhh!  My temp was the lowest today of the whole cycle.  Do you think the homeopathic progesteron could be making me have a delayed O or not to O at all??  Freaking out!  CD17...

Carmen - I am working on my third PPAF. I know I'm still early in the game. You just convince yourself this is it, you know? I had a theory if I could just O on time, I'd be good to go because my cycle is almost always 28 days even when I don't O at all and even when I Oed a week late. So, I Oed on time this month and figured my LP would be good. (See below.)

AFM - Ladies, I don't know what is going on. Would you mind looking at my chart and telling me what you think?? I thought I had started my period on Friday evening, as I filled a panty liner (bright red). Then my temp went down on Saturday morning, but no spotting at all on Saturday. No nothing. Then this morning my temp was back up, but I'm spotting again (almost flowing,  brown almost black). I am so lost. Thanks.

Looks to me like you're still in the game... possible implantation spotting? Not to get your hopes up unnecessarily, but it would make sense with your temp jumping back up like that :)

Starrlight - I know you told me which type of Vitex you took to get your period back, but I don't remember. . .  I'm considering taking it to help bring on ovulation because it's day 26 since my light period and no sign of ovulation in sight...  Also, what was the dosage/frequency you took?

Kelantan: That little "aha!" moment you had was really sweet! I'm glad you are finding more peace in this decision...and yes, plenty of women get pregnant while nursing (and some much more often than we are right now! smile.gif ) so I am going to keep on hoping you get a BFP soon!

Ava's Mama: What happened when you adjusted the time to the average?  From what I remember, temping so much relies on doing it first thing upon waking and at exact same time of day, so I'm not sure how changing it to an average would affect the reliability of the temps...would be interested to hear though.
ETA: just saw your latest post (was going off the one on page 5 :) about the progesterone and low temp...I'm not sure about the homeopathic stuff, but my understanding of things like progesterone creams is that they can cause delayed or no O.  I'm not exactly the most well versed in this, but that is what I have heard.  Is it possible to stop using it before O and start again after?

Starr: Also looks to me like you are still in the game.  Minus that big drop and with the spotting, something definitely sounds like it's up....I really hope it's implantation spotting for you

AFM: CD 29 here of my first PP cycle.  I've been feeling like AF is coming in the next couple days, so I guess we'll see.  Along with her comes my renewed dedication to being a good temper, so I'm simultaneously excited and worried that I won't stick with it.  Maybe it can be my NY's resolution....then again, those are hardly ever kept, so....eyesroll.gif lol We have kind of started NTNP, just going off fertile signs (mucus and cervical checks, which I suck at) and trying to avoid for now, so I am excited to be done with the spermicide, which I so hated.  My nursling has been nursing about 3-4 times a day, but he's a biter and I'm really worried that at some point, especially now that he's a year, I'll just decide to be done and wean, which I really don't want to do, but it just sucks getting bitten every single time we nurse greensad.gif But for now we forge on and hope that he learns that mama's nipple is not a teether or a chew toy orngbiggrin.gif

Hi everyone, I am breastfeeding DS who's 8 months old and we just decided to try for another baby. I have some questions I hope it's ok for me to ask here...I honestly am pretty clueless about a lot of this so pardon me please....I haven't had my period back yet and was wondering if I can even get pregnant? And how would I be able to tell if I was? Just keep taking tests?

OK ladies, FF is messing with my mind.  It's telling me I O'd but I'm just not seeing it.  Perhaps it's not disregarding the really low temp on day 20?  The open circles are when I temped an hour later than usual.  None of my temps are following the rules since I never get more than 2hours of sleep at a time since DS is far from sleeping through the night but they are consistantly between 2:30 and 3:00.  It's my first time charting so some advice is greatly appreciated.

You can get pregnant without having had a period....if you ovulate and conceive that same cycle, you won't have a PPAF.  I think it's a little harder to TTC, although I'm not entirely sure.  You can keep an eye on fertile signs--cervical mucus, checking your cervix, etc--although I think fluid can be a little wonky while nursing.  You can get a bunch of cheap OPKs from Amazon or somewhere else and start testing with them to try to catch your first O and try to DTD around then. Good luck!

Thanks:)  and thanks for the info. I am excited. It will be so weird if I do get pregnant before I get my period back and then go the pregnancy and another year of breastfeeding without it. Not complaining though haha.

lawmama - I am just taking the progesterone once a week, but I plan on calling my homeopath later in the week to see if this should be adjusted.  She said this is the remedy she would have put me on even if I wasn't trying to get pregnant.  It is just little pellets that dissolve in my mouth.  My temp was way low again today and I have had EWCM yesterday and today, so maybe it is just delayed O.  Lets hope if that is the case that my LP stays long!

Weird. So my temps have gone back up and the spotting has stopped. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/389e31

Anybody who like's to analyze charts like to have a look at mine and let me know what you think? In case you didn't see my previous post,

I started spotting bright red and old blood on 10dpo - 11 dpo. I am now 12 dpo, no spotting, and temps up.

I have never got AF before 13dpo, EVER!

You and starrlight97 look like you might be on the same boat, and still in the game! :)

Siouxsie - You might try looking at this site: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/fertility.html#transition . It answers a lot of questions about the transitions back to full fertility while BFing.

jj1107 - I used Femaprin by Nature's Way. It is standardized to 0.6% Agnusides (whatever that means). I took one a day. It has 100 mg of B-6, 225 mg Vitex agnus castus extract (fruit) 0.6% agnusides, and 100 mgt Vitex agnus castus (fruit). That's clear as mud. Anyway, it's from the bottle. I bought it on Amazon, b/c I couldn't find it in our small town.

AFM - Well, my temp dropped a few spots today. It's right on my cover line. Ugh. I hate all this being in Limbo!! I'm still lightly bleeding today, too, and of course a BFN.

lawmama:You made me laugh! I used spermicide for a bit and that stuff is ridiculously terrible! I'm super sensitive to everything but man that stuff would make DTD not even worth it... I'm glad you don't have to use it anymore. And i hope that either O or AF comes. Slow and steady, eh?

wp: Your chart looks pretty good to me. It's pretty normal to have a drop right before Ovulation. I'm not sure why, but lots of charts do it. And other than that your temps are all pretty regular. :)

siouxi: You can definitely get pregnant before if you ovulate before your first period. I would probably also recommend a pack of OPKs and just watching fertile signs. It's hard to know before.

Ava's Mama:When my oldest weaned at first it was really weird, but it was the right time for us. Don't beat yourself up. It's hard sometimes to look back and you miss what was or your memories, but you just have to look toward the future and what will be. For me, right now weaning ds2 is not quite right. But in a few months when we have been trying for almost a year, it might be. You just have to keep moving forward. And i would bet the progesterone is postponing O. I hope that it happens in the next few days for you! I know how you feel when it comes late it's torture! dizzy.gif

Starrlight and Mittens: I would honestly just try to be patient. It is so hard to know. Almost every month my temp drops, comes back up, and drops again... but i don't have spotting. I SOOOO hope it's a BFP but you just have to try and wait... and few days will tell... either way... i'm sending happy vibes y'all's way though. goodvibes.gif

and then ME whistling.gif(is anyone else addicted to the emoticons?!)

Kelantan - Thanks for the support!  I finally got my temp spike this morning CD19.  I talked to my homeopath yesterday and she said that homeopathic progesterone shouldn't affect my O.  She had me take a really small dose yesterday and I took a little more today.  Lets hope my temp stays up!

Ha!  I knew I wasn't going crazy.  FF changed my ovulation day and things make sense now.  On the down side I feel like AF is approaching and a three day LP has some definite room for improvement.

Kelan: Isn't it just?!? It was our best option for awhile since I didn't want to do hormones again and I have an allergy to latex condoms (and I am a vegetarian so won't do animal skin ones).  I had a lead on a lady who did cervical cap fittings, but it never panned out, so that's what we were left with.  Glad to be done!

Ava's Mama: I'm glad to know it won't affect O.  Hoping your temps stay up!

WP: I'm sorry AF is on the horizon, but glad you aren't going crazy orngtongue.gif Sorry for not knowing, but how many PPAF have you had?  If several, how long is your average LP?  I've heard that with nursing, it can be short (well, actually, I've heard cycles can be all kinds of crazy while nursing smile.gif ).  I'm hoping it gets longer in the coming months.

Just wondering, is anyone here trying to lose weight right now either while TTC or waiting to be ready?  I don't even want to talk about the ups and downs I've had since my son has been born, but suffice it to say that at one point I was within 10# of PP weight and now I'm looking at about 25# (although, I think some of that is AF, if she's coming as I suspect...but still it's a good 20# at least). I really would like to get back to my PP weight before we get pregnant again, as my blood pressure seems to be better the less weight I have on and I would like my pregnancy to be as low risk as possible.  I took up running in July, but I think it's my diet that's the culprit.  The holidays are going to be hard, but we will be staying in town and I am going to try to resist cooking a lot of goodies orngtongue.gif I would like to try to lose this weight before we conceive and since we aren't trying for about 6 months, I think, I should have time.  Just wondering if I have any friends in the same boat? smile.gif

Lawmama: Oh yes. The constant battle to get back to PP weight. Yeah. I'm in the boat. Before Thanksgiving i was only about 5 pounds off... now i am closer to 10... And i have a killer sweet tooth. Hopefully i will be able to curb it somewhat. I do go to the gym three day a week for about an hour and a half and usually i just run. So that has been nice. But my belly is still not nearly in the shape i got it back to post ds1. Oh well. I figure that is how it will keep going. I plan to do a marathon after we are all done having kids (we want about 5) and hopefully that will get everything back together. Until then... the treadmill is my best friend (as well as anything chocolate) haha Good luck! Do you really gain 20 lbs just with your period? So before AF you are 20lbs heavier than after?! Hmm... i will never weight myself before AF again if that is true!
