Poo date at 5am...

Hiya everyone! So Kai is 3 months old next week (can you believe how big our babies are getting??) and in the last couple of weeks he seems to have become very aware of the pooing process, and is none to happy with it. He used to poo with every feed (at least 15 times a day...sheesh), and now only poos 3-5 times a day, however...he is WORKING for it! He cries and fusses and I, or DH or his auntie have to rub his belly, bicycle his legs, hold him on his belly, nurse/paci him, warm bath, etc until he can get it out, and he is really having to put in effort. From everything I've read, this is not unusual for a baby of this age, and as long as he is pooing and there's no blood in his poo, it's not a problem.

It sucks watching him struggle with the discomfort, but the WORST part of it all is his 5 am poo date. Every single mornin at 5 he is squirming and fussing and crying, and I have to sit up, hold him upright and nurse him from between 15-45 minutes until the poo is out, and then we both go back to sleep. I'm exhausted, and I start work next week...anyone have any other ideas about how to help him feel better/poo more easily? I'm a bit of a purist an not willing to give him anything by mouth that isn't bm, but do any of you more experienced moms have any words of wisdom? I'm pooped from poo!!

Anyone elses baby have interesting/funny poo habits?

I have no experience with this as my little guy is only just over two months, but I have noticed him working a little harder over it and he definitely is aware of it happening. If I wasn't so exhausted between baby and school I might consider trying to EC with him, but I don't think I have it in me.

Haha! That's sweet, but I don't think I get any extra points just for wishfully thinking about EC-ing. LOL

It's not all that tough being a single mom actually... in some ways I think it's quite a bit easier. I don't have to compromise with anyone on parenting decisions, I'm never disappointed when I don't get the help I expect because I don't ever expect any, and I don't have to worry if I leak breast milk into a giant puddle on the bed in the middle of the night because no one complains and Mr. Moo and I can just move over to a dry spot until morning. ROTFLMAO.gif
