We love love love our Boba and it's much cheaper than the ergo.  I like that it has the toddler foot straps as well.  shrug.gif  I know the Ergo is most popular, but it's still just personal preference and other SSCs like beco and boba are the same thing, basically.  http://www.amazon.com/Boba-Classic-Baby-Carrier-Twilight/dp/B003Z6Q3V6

I love my moby, even if I can only get a little bit of use out of it. What with my huge babies who gain crazy fast..argh! I don't like it past 20lbs or so.. which for me means somewhere around 3-4 months. Anyway, all my babies have liked it BUT, only if sleepy! If they want to be awake, not so much. But if I slip them in when I know they're tired, its like a magic sleep machine. Out like  a light in seconds! Pouch slings are great for newborns and older babies too. They work for toddlers, but unless I had a teeny petite toddler, it wouldn't be my first choice. I just made a nice cozy fleece pouch for about $8 or so. I bought 2 yards and it was 50% off. I probably would have been fine with 1.5yds. Its super easy. If you can make a hem, you can make a pouch.

My nipples are still sore, of course, but I don't know what else to do about it (we've fixed all the issues that we can).  He may still have a shallow latch, but I can't get it to improve.  So that could be causing the soreness, but I also get some itchiness and stabbing pains randomly- I didn't think anything of it, just thought it was healing and milk coming in.  It really hurts when my letdown happens, and Dylan has a thin white coating on his tongue but that could just be milk and not thrush.  It's hard to know what is just sore/painful because of engorgement and transitioning to this new breastfeeding relationship, and what might be the symptom of a problem.... Any advice?!  I'm going to try to scrape some of the white off his tongue and see if it easily removes.  otherwise I have no idea how to tell if this is thrush or not....

Check the inside of his cheeks, on his gums. If there are little white spots in there, or a spotty rash around the mouth it's most likely thrush.

Yeah nothing spotty (yet?) or thick.  I hope it doesn't evolve into that.... So far I'm not super concerned but I'm just keeping an eye out.  Argh.  I wish my nipples would stop hurting.  This is frustrating!  I totally see why some women would stop breastfeeding if this is their experience.  I know it gets better, but this really sucks.  I would never quit, of course, but I'm miserable!  I want to be able to start enjoying feedings and bonding with him, not wincing and checking his latch.  greensad.gif

ETA I guess I'm also being super watchful for thrush because I have all this milk pumped to donate and I would have to dump it if it was thrush!  AGH!

That's nice that you're pumping to donate. thumb.gif I wish I could, but I'm on a medication that rules me out for donation. The white on the tongue is just from your milk, but if you see anything else in or around his mouth, get it looked at. I hated last time, when my nipples were so sore, and even the clogged duct made me entertain the idea of stopping if the clogged duct stayed there because it hurt so badly. If he has a shallow latch, could you try using your thumb or finger to open his mouth a little wider for a bigger latch? Levi has a shallow latch at times and will only latch the tip of the nipple and I have to open his mouth wider cuz he's just lazy that way. :/

Found a Moby for $20.99 with free shipping on ebay. It still has 5 hours left on it, but the last bids were over 12 hours ago, so I'm hoping the price doesn't go up.

I'm with you, J.  I'm so frustrated with the breastfeeding ups and downs.  It was SO painful at first, and my nipples were cracked and bleeding, and then it seemed to get better... then now I feel like we're back to square one.  I detach and re-latch her a thousand times a day, and sometimes we seem to get lucky... but I think it's like someone else said here, maybe I just have to wait for her mouth to get bigger?  I was worried about thrush too but she doesn't have it.  My nipples aren't cracked or bleeding anymore, but there are times when she first starts feeding that I gasp and writhe in pain for a minute.  What gives, man?!?

I also thought I had a bad rash developing on my boobs but now I'm pretty sure it's just cause I've been scratching them cause they feel irritated... and when my nipple hurts while feeding my whole boob itches and now both boobs are all red and scratched up.  Super sexy!

Katie is definitely a comfort nurser, too, and that combined with her recent growth spurt is adding much more stress to my poor boobs.  The other night she fed for 2.5 hours straight.  Most of it was snoozing at the nipple, with little bouts of sucking thrown in, but the second I'd detach her, she'd wake up.

Sometimes Levi won't even latch when I open his mouth wider for him. He just shuts his mouth defiantly and then continues to root around as if saying "no, I'll do it MY way, thank you."

It's been 20 hours of labor now and I can't see the end in sight b/c baby's head is malpositioned and causing excruciating pain and not dilating the cervix like it should.  Check out the labor signs thread for details.

I just read the other thread and responded there.  You poor girl!

Pinkie binky! That's when I kindly ask DH for his clean pinkie and go lie on the love seat (in our room) while they both snooze in the bed. smile.gif

The "pinkie binky" is probably the most fortunate thing a mother can figure out so mommy can lay down and daddy can entertain baby.

Lucky! Katie fell for this trick exactly once.  Now she just gets more pissed off if either one of us tries to let her suck on a finger.  Total no-go!

Oh no! You've got a real "Princess and the Pea" girl on your hands. She knows the pinkie isn't the real thing and she won't take anything but what she wants! lol

OMG that's the perfect reference! It's so true!

After night #2 of being a human pacifier I sent DH out for a Nuk.  I never used one before, but then DD #1 was a thumb sucker so I didn't have to.  My nipples sang the Nuk's praise, and they still do.  I had maybe 4 days of pain before it started easing up- a HUGE difference than breastfeeding my other 2, where I practically cried every time they latched on for about a month.

Bettie has a very good, very strong latch though (the first of my kids to have one).  If there are latch issues at all its probably not a good alternative.

I'm getting super anxious about this moby wrap on ebay. I've been watching it for 4 hours and it's still only $20.99. It's free shipping and I've only got $23.00 on my card. Fingers crossed that it stays at $20.99 for the next 50 minutes.
