How did the size of your second (or third, or fourth..) child compare to your firstborn??

My son was born at 40 weeks exactly and weighed 5 lbs 15 oz.

This time around, I have measured big at each and every appointment since around 18 weeks.  I am getting paranoid about having an abnormally large baby.

Was wondering how the birth weight of your first child compared to subsequent children??  Were they near the same weight?  Were there drastic differences??

My husband keeps teasing me and telling me it doesn't matter that I have already had one kid to form the birth canal because this kid is going to be so much bigger he is going to tear me a new one!! (really great I know!)

For that matter, what was labor like compared to your first?  I had my son after about twelve hours of labor.  Wondering what the chances are that this one will arrive faster...

first was 6lb 13oz - 37w6d - no labor cesarean

second was 7lbs 7oz - 40w0d - 8 hour labor

third was 7lbs 10oz - 39w2d - 4 hour labor

My first was 7 lbs 14oz. I measured 2-3cm ahead consistently throughout my pregnancy.

My second was 7lbs 12 oz. I measured 2-3cm ahead the entire pregnancy again.

My third was 8lbs 14oz. I measured either right on track or slightly below for the entire pregnancy. Lol

Try not to stress yourself out about it. It probably doesn't mean much.

As for labor, my second was a LOT quicker than my first. 13 hours as opposed to 54. Just don't ask me about my third!  He was born three days ago so I am still bitter about how long it took.

Eta. Saw this is new posts. Didn't realize I was ddc crashing. Sorry!

Hm this is my first..so I'm no help..BUT..

I was born in 8 hours, natural vaginal delivery, around 7 lbs 11 oz

Brother was born in 4 hours, same, I believe my mom said he was 8 lbs 6 oz? He was bigger than I was though, I know that much for sure.

And both of us were 1.5 - 2 weeks early. (: We don't wait!

1 = 40w1d - 8.2 pounds - 12 hours from first contraction to babe

2 = 41w2d - 8.12 pounds - 3 hours from first contraction to babe

I'm worried that #3 will either just come shooting out Monty Python style or will take days and days and days.

My girls were 7lbs 15 oz & 7lbs 12 oz so almost identical. My first was a week late and my second came exactly on her due date. Active dilation & labor was about 6 hours for both of them, but my contractions started a good 12 hours before that each time.

Ds1 8lbs (at least several oz of which was excess fluids_ - no labour cesarean

Ds2 6lb 12oz - 20 hour labour (plus 90 hours of my water being borken, but I don't count that)

Ds3 6lb 6oz - 5 hour labour

Really hoping this babe is closer to 7lbs than 6!

My first was 7 lbs 5 oz at 40 weeks 2 days with a 1 1/2 hour labor

My second was 7 lbs 6 oz at 39 weeks 1 day with a 3 hour labor

My third was 9 lbs 0 oz at 40 weeks exactly with a 3.5 hour labor (No GD)

I'm wondering how the size will be in comparison this time since I have 3 boys right now and this babe in my belly is a girl. I should also add that I had absolutely no tearing with my 3rd, where I tore a 1st degree with my first and had a "skidmark" with my second. I also had the least amount of bleeding with my youngest son.

ds1- 13 hour labor at 41w3d -- 6lb 13oz

ds2 - 90 minute labor at 40w3d -- 7lb 13 oz

ds3 - 4 hour labor at 41w3d -- 8lb 13oz

i wonder if this baby will follow the trend and come in at 9lb 13oz.  probably not!

without question, my labor with #3 was the best so far (and with the biggest baby).

it was so peaceful and gentle.  i think of it all the time.

there are so many factors other than the size of the baby that affect labor.

I have been worried about this myself..... and I find the this trend unsettling as my first was 9 lbs 14 oz.!

DDCC - I'm wondering as well. My first was 9 lbs 9 oz. at 39 weeks, and was a c-section without labor. This time I'm hoping for a vbac, and hoping that he might be a little smaller than his sister. Everyone in the family has had large babies, regardless of their size. Nobody has tested positive for GD, either.

With my sister they were:

DD1 - 9 lb 15 oz at just over 40 weeks. Long, drawn out hospital labor, likely due to epidural and positioning of baby that caused dystocia.
DD2 - 9 1/2 lbs at 39 weeks. Footling breech presentation with scheduled c-section delivery.
DD3 - 9 1/2 lbs at 39 weeks. Planned RCS delivery.
DS1 - 8 1/2 lbs at 36 weeks. Early RCS due to window in uterus at last delivery.

Glad to know I am not the only one worrying about this! Thanks guys!

1st baby - Induced at 41 weeks.  Cervidil at midnight, epidural at 7am, Pit at 9am.  3 hours of active labor, 15 minutes of pushing.  9 lbs even.

2nd baby - Induced at 39 weeks due to gestational diabetes.  8 hours of active labor (Cytotec, then Pit several hours later.  Pit was delayed because there was one doctor on the OB ward and she was busy with other patients.  Epidural after Pit.), she pushed herself out, 8 1/2 pounds.

3rd baby - Induced at 38 weeks.  No Cervidil or Cytotec; they hooked up the epidural, THEN broke my water and started Pit.  45 minutes later, I was ready to push.  Two pushes.  8 pounds, 2 ounces.

Through all of my pregnancies, I've always measured right on track.  I had a "skid mark" with baby #1, but nothing with #2 or #3.

This is going to be my first delivery where I will go into labor spontaneously and NOT get drugs during labor, so it'll be interesting to see the difference.

What is it with our DH's? Mine loved telling me when I was pg w/ DS1 that he was going to be 20 lbs. He claims he was a huge baby (as if he knows b/c his birth certificate doesn't say and his mom doesn't remember). This time he's not getting such a big kick out of it, because I matter-of-factly repeat back to him that my body was made to have the size of baby that is growing inside me (that was one of my favorite parts of Ina Mae's GTC book), whether it's a 6 lb baby or a 20 lb baby!

DS1 was 8 lbs 7 oz, and labor was just under 15 hrs w/ the last 7 of them being pit augmented (so I don't know if I would have labored longer naturally or not).

My girl babies all seem to come out at about 7lbs! I wonder what my first boy is planning. I'm assuming he's going to be bigger than 2 of my girls (closer in size to my #2 baby who was born early). I think he's going to come 2 weeks early as well.

#1, 39 weeks, 7lbs4oz, many hours of labor...24 I think.

#2, 37w5d, 7lbs2oz, 5 hours of labor after 24 hours of broken membranes

$3, 39w, 6lbs15oz, less than 3 hours after stripped membranes (had prodromal labor for almost a whole week before!)
