How far along am I actually???

Based on my LMP, I am 12 weeks and 2 days along. But, my "projected ovulation" from Fertility Friend predicted 9/16, LMP was 9/6. DH and I DTD on 9/17 (just mentioning that in case it makes a difference innocent.gif) and I got a positive pregnancy test on 10/2, and it was very obviously a positive, and it showed the results immediately.

Anyway, I ask because I went for my first midwife appt today, and she couldn't find the baby's heartbeat on the doppler. She said I didn't quite feel 12 weeks along, maybe a little less. (I don't remember how much less she said). But she asked if I was sure I was sure about my dates, and I am. I just wonder if since I have a shorter cycle than average (I expected AF on 10/1, so average cycle is 25 days) then maybe that might explain why I'm not measuring quite where I should be???

I'm supposed to go back on Monday to listen for the heartbeat again. Is is abnormal to not be able to hear it at this stage?

It is normal to not be able to hear the HB at 12 weeks. With my DS I was almost 14 weeks and we couldn't hear the HB with the doppler but went for the U/S the next day and there was my beautiful boy jumping around and measuring 14 weeks :)

Also from your projected ovulation date and conception date you would be 12 weeks 5 days. Where you temping and marking cervical mucus or cervix position? is it possible you ovulated later? I conceived my DS with sex the day after ovulation and it was very clear that I ovulated the day before.

My mw couldn't hear the hb when I was 14 weeks with the doppler, but I could feel the baby moving already and knew that everything was okay (it was my third pregnancy).  Much depends on the placental placement and baby's movement.  If your gut is telling you that something is off, then I would request an u/s.  In fact, you will likely be offered one if they still can't find the hb on Monday.  But if you are very against u/s then I would suggest waiting until after 15 weeks to try to listen again.

Thanks for the encouragement. :-) @ Butterfly Mommy, I wasn't temping, but I did note the stretchy cervical mucous on that day (9/16). I guess it's possible that actual ovulation occurred later than I thought. And I looked up my records from my pregnancy w/DD, and at 12 weeks, my OB didn't even use a doppler, she tried an abdominal ultrasound and all we could see was DD's feet, so she used a vaginal ultrasound, and dated the pregnancy at 11 weeks, 4 days. Yesterday, the MW said my uterus was "tipped", and said it was hard to feel over my pubic bone, so that might also be what happened w/DD and thus "normal" for me???

@ Jaimee, I don't *think* I've felt movement yet (a couple times I thought I might be feeling movement but it was fleeting- I really don't expect to feel much at this point though). Really, my gut is not telling me anything is wrong, even while she was trying to find the heartbeat, I felt fine...it wasn't until I was almost home that I sort of started to freak, and today has been rough off and on just because I had been letting myself think of the "what if's". But throughout this pregnancy, I haven't felt like anything was wrong. Anyway, she already gave me a referral for an US if I decided I want to go, but I'm pretty conservative about them (I only plan to have one around 20 weeks). She seems okay with just having me come back Monday, so hopefully we'll get to hear the heartbeat then.
