Definitely! With all three of my sons, I craved meat... With my youngest son it was this really desperate craving with these kind of animalistic visions I'd get of just sitting with handfuls of nearly raw meat, the juice dripping down my face. It was pretty crazy and a little unnerving, for sure. I'd checked my iron levels and they were all okay, so I don't know what prompted it. The ironic thing is that he's now my only child who's chosen to be vegan!

With this pregnancy, my first girl, it's definitely been fruits and veggies, but primarily fruits (and sweets). I'm still waiting for my birthday do I can make some kind of crazy strawberry lemon cake. However, I am diabetic so it's not something I can choose to eat as fruit has really been sending my blood sugars out of whack in even the teensiest amounts- so that could be the real cause of the craving.

ugh you talking about meat makes me want a roast beef sandwich something fierce, but when I head into town I'm heading to the wrong town to get one!

With my first it was junk food and protein (boy)

Second and third I was all about the fruits and veggies (girls)

and this time it's mostly just protein but some veggies and a tiny bit of fruit (if it's sour)

So I can't even guess gender based on cravings lol... if I HAD to by cravings alone, I'd say boy, just because of the insane want for meat, but I also craved steak off and on with my third (girl)

As weird as it sounds, I keep thinking you're having a boy. I'm not stalking you, I swear wink1.gif just for some reason I'd thought that a while ago from one of your posts and thought it would be fun to see if I was right so I'm secretly checking up on you haha

Haha that's okay. Just know we're not finding out until baby comes in July! But trust me, this DDC will be one of the first groups of people informed of all the specifics on baby when they finally arrive!

I think it's a boy, too!

(And how exciting to think about birth announcements and sharing the early newborn days with each other here! Eek!)

Hopefully that's still about 15 weeks off for the earliest...

But those due at the start of July are already in the "window of viability" (though we of course hope none are born before full term when all the risks of prematurity are gone!)

I'm one of those who celebrate being in the window of viability, due to the risks during the pregnancy with my son, and if anything happened before then he had no chance at all :( We were VERY lucky and he made it all the way to full term with no issues... but I still rest a little easier once baby is viable, even if I would rather not have one that early for all the complications it causes.

AAAAAAND back on topic...

I have been craving beef roast, so I bought a HUGE one today. Cannot wait for Sunday when I make it!

My latest cravings are lemonade & peanut butter (not together!).  Lemonade sounds good all the time.  As for PB, I've been making PB chocolate chip cookie bars, which I love & PB rice krispie bars.  Not the healthiest things, but so yummy!

With my last pregnancy (boy) I craved meat - mostly beef - fruit, & vinegar things (olives, etc.)  Then, towards the end, I wanted ice cream all the time.  (I also ate a ton of ice cream after I started BFing him!)  With this one (unknown gender), I've been wanting meat again, pickles, fruit, & ice cream.  But I also really want sweets (couldn't stand them 1st trimester, though).  So, maybe another boy?  We shall see . . .

Did I really just get up at 1:00 in the morning to make myself a plate of low carb pancakes? Yes. Yes, I did. DH found that very amusing.

I found a recipe for spicey Korean tofu. Oh my goodness. I've eaten it daily for a good 2 weeks. Breakfast, during the girls naps, midnight... I just can't stop!! Mmmmm. It's pan fried tofu tossed in a sauce made of 1 clove of minced garlic, 1 chopped green onion, 1 ts hot pepper flakes, 1 ts sugar (or honey), 2 tbs soy sauce, and 2 ts sesame oil and topped with roasted sesame seeds, if you're curious. YUM!

That tofu sounds so good!

Mmm yeah that tofu sounds great.

I have been all about the fruit smoothies, can't get enough.

With my first I wanted a ton of citrus

With my second it was chocolate, passionfruit, and diet coke

With my third it was meat and beer.

It's funny how our bodies want certain things during pregnancy.

And its even funnier for me to be able to relate my cravings to the personalities of the babies now that they are bigger! You should see the personality of my passionfruit, chocolate, and DC baby OMG LOL.

I REALLY want some good roasted chicken, with lots of pepper. I can picture it in my mind's eye and almost taste it like I've had this exact chicken before, but I'm not sure what restaurant I am thinking of (we mostly just use boneless skinless chicken at home so it's not as tasty as what I'm picturing). Yesterday I started out wanting the chicken, but by the end of the day was craving ham, so I stopped and picked up a ham steak for dinner, which was easier to find than the elusive chicken. Not sure what's with all the meat cravings recently. I also really need to make some more hard-boiled eggs... I ate a lot of them in the first trimester, then sort of went off them for a while, now I love them again.

I'm out of pork chops and have been making chicken breast in the cast iron pan. Lots of oil, salt, pepper, and oregano, brown on high for 3 minutes on a side, put the whole thing in the oven @ 400 for 10 - 20 minutes until they are cooked through. Think I'll make some more today.

Now that it's warm outside, I'm craving lots of summer style spinach salads.  Today I have just been eating spinach with raisins on top.  It is so good...  The greens plus the sweetness.  Fresh strawberries and cream cheese on top is AMAZING, too, as are clementines or apple chunks.  Nom nom nom.  I like these salads so much more than any I've had with real dressing.

ah! that's what i'm craving too! but a small town grocery store doesn't allow it. they get 2 heads of romaine in a week (that have seen better days) and if you're lucky a couple boxes of salad greens (which i don't buy cause they are too expensive)....and disturbing head lettuce. thats about it for "spring/summery" veggies. i planted lettuce and radishes a few days ago and i CAN"T wait until its grown big enough to eat. :) i'm SO ready for the garden to flourish! fresh peas! ahh..i love going out into the garden and to just hang out and eat :)

I could eat fresh veggies (with dip!) all the time, but I can't do lettuce salads this pregnancy.  I should try spinach - that sounds good!

I am loving ice cream right now - this happened during 3rd trimester of my last pregnancy, too.  And cheese.  Still really like peanut butter.  Actually, almost all food sounds pretty good these days!

I woke up in the night last night craving poptarts toasted with butter and strawberry milk. Good thing those things are not in the house or I might have gotten up and chowed down.

Its just weird, like where did that come from? lol
