Thrush That WON'T Go Away!!! It's been MONTHS!

I knew as soon as I was pregnant and diagnosed GBS positive that the antibiotics would cause thrush.  I took chewable acidophilus to try to prevent it from happening but with no luck.  Thrush kicked in around when DS was 2 weeks old.  He's now almost 3 months old and we still have thrush!  I nursed my DD's for years and we had a bout or two of thrush but I was always able to get it to go away with gentian violet.  We've done several rounds of gentian violet, and nystatin creams and drops.  All seemed to get the thrush *almost* gone but failed to completely eradicate it and then it flares up again. I switched to wool breast pads, and I never wear a shirt at home... I eat copious amounts of chewable acidophilus and yogurt and tried cutting sweets and yeasts out of my diet, but I can't go on for months on end on such a restricted diet.  I'm vegan as it is so it's really hard to add further restriction.  I have at least tried to keep yeasts and sweets to a minimum but I can't eliminate them altogether indefinitely.  I'm so tired of this thrush!  I just want it gone and I don't know what else to do.  Nothing seems to be working!  Never in all my years of bfing have I had such a persistent problem with this.  Ideas?

It maybe time to see your Dr to have you and your baby treated. My 1st baby had thrush and while I did take her to her Ped to be treated I was not informed that I also needed to be treated too so we battled with the thrush back and forth for about 4 mths it was so bad and caused an end to our breastfeeding relationship.

Yes the rx nystatin was for both of us--drops for him & ointment for me...

I've only used gentian violet and taken a probiotic. I've heard grapeseed oil and black walnut tincture can help as well.

Are you 100% sure it's thrush?  Could it be a secondary bacterial infection that the current treatments aren't taking care of?
