Pink eye

I did a search but did not find specific pink eye posts.

Back story:

Dd started out with a scab on her ear which she was rubbing (she said little ds scratched her ear with his fingernails). She put in earrings without my knowing (she has had pierced ears for two years which appeared to be fully healed but after a couple suspicious ear infections, I'm discouraging her from wearing them and hoping they close up), when I asked her if she cleaned them first she said no--I had her take them out and clean her ears with soap. She is prone to ear infections, not sure why-she was bf 3yrs and no one smoked around her, no allergies we know of.

Anyway, I think she might have introduced something into her ear via the scab or the unclean earrings. She started complaining of her ear itching, so we started treating both ears breastmilk and then with garlic/willow oil from the hfs. The next day her eye seemed tinged with red, and I was like OH NO!

Since then we have been doing warm garlic/willow oil in both ears every four hours, breastmilk in the afflicted eye, a shot of kombucha with 3 drops GSE and 5 drops olive leaf extract, 2 caps echinacea, 2 caps garlic, and I just added in 1Tb sodium ascorbate in grape juice--all this abt every four hours with breastmilk in the eye even more frequently. Grated some raw potato, mixed it with breastmilk and raw honey, and she has this as a poultice on her eye right now.

Anything else I can do? Anyone successfully treated pink eye without antibiotics?

I really want to avoid abx; she has some issues which I think are due to unhealthy gut and we have really been working on probiotics in her body.

-Itchy ear started Wednesday-treated with breastmilk,

-started garlic oil in the ear on Thursday--noticed the pink color to the eye that afternoon, that night noticed pink bumpy rash along her jaw line on the same side as the ear/eye affliction,

-started garlic and herbal abx as soon as I noticed the pink eye,

added SA and raw potato poultice today (Friday). The eye had the telltale crusty goop when she woke up this morning. Also have her drinking as much water as I can get her to drink.

I will definitely take her to the doc and get abx if I have to (if it doesn't appear to be resolving in the next couple of days), but I think this might be something persistent that has been laying low in her ear--she was treated with abx drops in her ears twice in the last six months; I think it might be abx resistant, IDK

Any advice, btdt, etc. is appreciated. Thank you!

Regarding the pink eye.  My son had it a few weeks ago and I actually got Abx.  Afterwards, I found numerous sites-even eye doctors who say most pink eye clears up on its own witin 2 weeks.   I read that colodial silver works great for it and will definitely try it next time. My Dr precribed one of the super abx that all these eye dr's say is overkill.  They said that the simple ointments work best.  Usually I do my homework but my DH always pressures my to go the dr asap.

Thanks for the feedback. I think they push the abx for it coz its supposed to be so highly contagious so they dont want kids exposing others fr two weeks, ya know? When kids are in school and all they cant be out for two weeks or that is maybe the reasoning, not that I necessarily agree smile.gif

So we managed to pretty much clear up the ear issue and the pink eye by stickingto the above protocol from the first sign of the eye reddening!

Wondrous!

If anyone else is dealing with pink eye, the herbs and stuff in the OP plus the breastmilk in the eye really cleared it up quick. I would say 90% resolved already, but I did catch it early and hit it super hard with everything I could think of innocent.gif

I use Similason (sp?) Pink Eye Relief (homeopathic) at the first sign of eye redness or goopiness from a cold.  It is amazing!  Knocks it out w/ 1-2 treatments IME.

I have also used breastmilk before but I think the Pink Eye Relief works better and faster.
