Chicken Pox Advice

Thread Starter

Well, I'm not actually sure it's chicken pox, but I imagine I'll know by the end of the day.

Last night DS (12mo) had a fever (~100-101), this morning he has about a dozen sores around his diaper area and another half-dozen on his fingers.  In the last few hours a couple more have popped up - two on a leg, one on his palm.  At first I was thinking hand, foot, and mouth, but the sores look more like the pictures I've seen of chicken pox (starting out as a red spot, then a pustule), and now with sores coming up on his leg I'm leaning away from hfm and more towards chicken pox or something similar.

Assuming this does turn out to be pox, does anyone have any tips or wisdom from experience?  Vinegar or oatmeal baths?  Homeopathics?  Supplements?

Thanks!

(Re-checked him after typing this, four more spots on his leg...)

I found that oat flour in the bath worked as well as the expensive oat bath additives.  Bought it at a health foods grocery.

Good luck!

DS had chicken pox at about that age, and his interest in using the potty skyrocketted (he didn't like peeing in a diaper while he had spots), so my advice is lots of diaper free time, or at least prompt diaper changes.  Also, take a few deep breaths: he'll get through this, and so will you.
