Demeter, me too. That's why I can't wait for a dating ultrasound!

I have no desire to have an early u/s... I cook my babies LONG and getting one of those puts me on a time schedule, if I deliver with an OB especially. I usually don't have such a hard time figuring, lol. Going off of my LMP I'm due on my birthday (August 2nd) and in some instances, though not all I'm due as late as the 6th. If I use Nichols Rule I'm due the 17th. I'm tempted to use that date just because it gives me the most leeway. I was just curious how many weeks I am... going with the earlier date I'm 6ish weeks... going with the later date I'm around 4 but that really doesn't make sense to me because I know I waited almost 2 weeks past being late to test, lol. Confusing!!

The problem for me is that I am 90% sure that I ovulated Nov 13-15, due to CM and temp, and we certainly had a lot of, uh, fun those three days. BUT, there is a 10% chance that I ovulated at the beginning of November, when I had a temp spike but little to no CM change. So, I just want to know if I am 5 weeks along or 7 weeks along right now (or 6.5 and 8.5 when I have my appointment next week)!

LOL! Yeah I was trying to figure ovulation.. I usually O with the moon, the full moon which was I think the 10th last month. I had some EWCM a couple days leading up to that and I don't remember beyond that. There's only one time I cna think of that might have caused a baby... and that's because my husband woke me up, both of us were half asleep.. that's all I can come up with. We are so careful usually.. but I had no real clear ovulation signs beyond slight changes in CM. He pulls out every time.. and there was no oops! that I can think of, lol.

Oh.. and going by my LMP, and calculators, I seem to have ovulated on the 14th.. which coincidentally is my daughter's birthday, lol.

I think we might be due date buddies, then! lol.gif

lol CM - I kinda feel like that too.. I'm pretty sure I ovulated on the 15th or 16th.. but since we traveled to South Africa at the beginning of November - I might have had an early O and since we BD'd almost every day - I need some dating to be sure. Also - because of an early loss with my last pregnancy - I need to see a heart flutter at my 8 week appointment. Then - I'll relax a little.

Otherwise - the 3 of us might all be due date buddies.

Demeter, what's Nichols Rule?

We are pretty sure of the dates. We THINK we know the date of conception.  I wasnt ovulating regularly, so we arent positive.  I tested on day 12 and got a negative. Day 13 positive. (What we thought were day 12 and 13.)  The day closes to the day I got a positive. Is this making sense?  LOL.  I'm so beyond tired right now.

Anyway, pretty sure due date is Aug 10.  We have a daughter with Aug 11 birthday and that girl LOVES babies. She is going to flip when we tell her this baby could be born on her birthday.

Demeter, we have 6.  So, I would say you aren't crazy. that is, unless I'm crazy too. And would we really know if we were?  LOL

Nichols Rule add 12 months to the date of the LMP, subtract 2 months and 14 days for first time pregnancies and 2 months 18 days for subsequent pregnancies. Using this method has actually proven (for me at least) to be a lot better than basing anything straight off my LMP. I do tend to have a slightly (though not terribly so) longer cycle than 28 days which is what most OBs base your due date off of.

See, I was induced with my first 4 because I was 'post dates' with all of them... but with my 5th I adhered to the fact that I knew when I conceived (Valentine's Day) and basing things off of my LMP plus the Nichols rule (woods method) my due date was November 7, she came November 14th ON HER OWN, lol. So I want to make sure I have the opportunity to go into labor on my own. My placentas have all been beautifully healthy, none of them showing wear... my first daughter was born at 42 weeks via induction and she was COVERED in so much vernix, it was crazy. And I had an early u/s with her... around 7 weeks. So to me those aren't terribly accurate. I guess really I just want my body to do what is meant to do on it's own, without manipulation again.

I understand that completely.  I had not seen that method.  My husband has devised some mathematical formula based on conception that has been right 2 out of 2 home deliveries.  Born on the DAY he said.  The third was induced due to pre e. So we'll never know if he was  3 for 3.

I was wrong... lol the N/W method said Marah would come on the 14th, lol, and she did! :) Going off my LMP my due date with her was the 7th. So I did a little figuring today and I'm betting conception was on the 13th, I think going off of that my due date will be August 5th. It's driving me nuts that I was so out of it this month that I failed to keep track of the days we dtd... especially the middle of the night half sleeping funny business because I'm certain that was when I conceived because I thought... oh God... what if I'm pregnant because we weren't totally aware. Mhmmm.. yep.. lol

I'm pretty sure that if you start with the date of the LMP and add a fixed number you're still basing the due date on your LMP. It may be a different number than the one used commonly, but if your period is not standard length you'll be off.

Eleuthia,I found out I have a retroverted uterus, too. I really hope they can still show me something on the first U/S. I have two more betas this week, then an U/S but I might have to wait until next week because I'll be busy Thursday and Friday at work. I'm hoping that we'll see the heartbeat but it's probably going to be too early. I think I O'd around 11/22-11/25.

And in the link it goes on to explain the rules (adding or subtracting) for a longer or shorter cycle... I used this method to figure my last 3 babies and it was closer than any doctor or u/s has EVER been. :)
