Upstate New York Midwives

I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for midwives (homebirth & hospital) and OB's who will attend a VBAC in the Utica, NY area (or New Hartford, Rome, Oneida, Clinton areas).

As far as I know, there isn't one. Denise Barber Jenks delivered my son 8 years ago, but moved to Saranac Lake/Lake Placid area about 4 years ago. I had my other 3 births in Saranac Lake. Maybe in the Rome area??

Meredith Geers is in the Syracuse area, and may go to Utica. I don't know her well, but she's the only one I know of up there. Her business name is Family Tree Midwifery of Central New York.  Good Luck!

Meredith was one of my labor nurses at the hospital i had my 2 1/2 yr old DS and have known a few familys that have used her and loved her. If you would like her number please message me and ill be happy to give it to you.

Just wanting to bump this thread to see if anyone has any other recommendations.  I think I've come to the conclusion that if we want to have a homebirth near Utica, Meredith is the only practitioner who does that, but does anyone have any recommendations for low-intervention OBs/midwives who would attend hospital births? We've come across a practice in Syracuse that seems to have "decoy" midwives---there are 2 on staff, but you're rotated through many of their OBs and only 1 of the midwives, and the midwives do not attend hospital births, even at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, which looked to be the "progressive" option.  Anyone have any advice?

I don't know any out in the Utica area however Lynn Hickox in Syracuse is a wonderful midwife attends her own hospital births. I didn't have her but had many friends who've used her. They have all positive things to say. 

 

Meredith Geers in Hamilton and Kate Finn in Ithaca are the main homebirth midwives in this general area.
