Another mystery skin rash, both kids have it but presenting differently...what could it be? ...

Did some preliminary searching, doesn't sound like foot and mouth or impetigo.

DD 9mo got tummy bug starting Thurs night, then DS 5yo got the bug Saturday night, and I had it last night.  Now this morning, DD started getting blotchy rash around her mouth/chin.  Also her hands and feet are red/blotchy.

I picked DS up from school early today because he developed itchy pimply type rash around his mouth but not blotchy and I didn't see it anywhere else.  Both are acting fine.  I think they had mild short fevers with the tummy bug and I was getting the chills last night but am much better today.

Do you think this is related to the tummy bug or just a different virus?  I think it's viral because they both started getting rashy at the same time.  I called DD's daycare and a few kids did have tummy bug there but no rashes noted.

They both have food issues but no new food has been introduced, so I dont' think it's environmental.

Some people break into a rash post-virus.  It doesn't mean they're still sick--it's usually after it "breaks" or goes away.  My son had it once and it freaked me out.  

Hoping that's what it is for you, but maybe someone else has some input!!

We also (once) had a post-viral developmental regression.  NOT. fun.  :/  I think it took 2-3mo for those skills to be regained (in case you run into this in the future).  It was not shot-related (we were, at that point, med exempt for a year already).

That could be it, luckily it was pretty minor and mostly gone already (so it only lasted less than 24 hrs).  Thanks!
