What are you giving up/doing extra while TTC?

Specifically, what food/drink/whatever have you given up and what have you added?

 

Alcohol?  Cafeine?  Artificial Sweetners?  Vitamins?

Weeeeellllll.......I have really been trying to quit smoking but have not had much luck. But I have for sure given up the dieting and diet pills since TTC. I also have not had any alcohol. I usually drink pretty often. A cup at night while relaxing or a little more if we are doing something socially. But I just can't do it at all since I started TTCing. The thought of it makes me feel horrible. Of course once I do become pg I will have to quit smoking cold turkey but for now my dieting habbits and drinking will have to suffice.

I gave up coffee (still a little tea once in awhile) and nearly all drinking, except for a beer or two, max, every once and awhile when out with friends. Going into the holidays though I've decided to not even do that. Taking prenatal vitamins and eating extra healthy - lots of fruit! Trying to rest a lot. Need to be doing yoga or something exercise-related. I don't smoke so that's good... mostly just trying to make small changes here and there.

I have never been an alcohol or coffee drinker, so never had to worry about cutting those out.  But I used to drink caffeinated soda every once in a while, and I have cut out soda completely.  I also am trying to eat healthier with lots of fruits and vegetables and whole grains, and doing my best to cut out all sugar.  I started taking prenatal vitamins about 4 months before we started TTC.  I was taking RRL tablets also but stoppd when I had my m/c.  I have definitely become stricter with myself on foods and drinks ever since the m/c, hoping somehow I can increase my chances to have a healthy pregnancy next time.  I had DH also start taking a multi-vitamin after the m/c.

Thanks for the info guys!

 

My kids are much older, so I wondered what the current trends were.  With them I gave up caffeine, alcohol and any non-vital meds.  Issues with non-sugar sweetners weren't even on my radar then.  I know that my SIL was really strict with getting no nitrates/nitrites (?) while PG--- is that a big issue?
