Colostrum??? This early?

Does anyone else find that they're making colostrum already?? The other night, after my shower, my nipple felt really itchy, so I moved my boob around to check it out (thinking it was a bug bite or something) and ended up with a bead of colostrum...

Is this really early, or totally normal? It was kinda neat, but weird for me. I haven't nursed a kid in almost 4 years! (DD was 4 and 1/2 when she stopped nursing.)

From what I've read, it's normal.  My nipples seem to be a little crusty (TMI, sorry!) so I asked Dr. Google, and apparently it can be from tiny amounts of colostrum leaking out.  I haven't tried squeezing any out yet though, they're still so sensitive!

That's exactly what I think happened with mine... small bits of colostrum making me itchy.

LOL on Dr. Google. He's both my best friend and my worst enemy.

I haven't given "the girls" a little squeeze in a while but I was still producing milk (until very recently) from when I weaned DS back in March 2010. I was pregnant or nursing straight from March 2006-2010 and my milk just stayed. Now I am interested if I have milk or colostrum. I remember when I was pregnant with my first, I was putting my mascara on and my arm was slightly compressing my breast and all of the sudden colostrum started leaking out down my arm. I was probably 6 months pregnant. I am so excited to breastfeed again!!!!

With my first I had the white crusties at about 24 weeks, with my second my milk switched to colostrum between 18-20 weeks and the crusties started soon after. I'm 18 weeks now and no crusties yet. I just did a squeeze check and it's totally clear... so either very watery foremilk or colostrum <shrug> not sure.

I don't think it's colostrum yet, though, because I don't... uh, smell like it. Both of my other pregnancies when I started producing colostrum I started getting a weird sweet smell that took me a couple of days to figure out, and then when my milk comes in after baby the smell changes.
