Polio Titer

My DD has received 3 doses of polio vaccine, but our state requires the last dose to be given after the 4th birthday. Had I known prior, I would've waited to get that 3rd dose after her 4th birthday, but that is hindsight. For my older daughter I was able to do one dose of MMR and get a titer for the second dose which proved immunity. Does anyone know if a polio titer can be drawn in lieu of the fourth dose she would need (similar to the situation with the MMR)?

I believe the "last dose needs to be rec'd on or after age 4" is the same in most, if not all states; it's stated on the cdc charts as such. As for titer replacing vax, I think it depends on your state. Perhaps your local health dept can answer that? I know some can be helpful if you talk to the right person.

I also know the Dtap has the same requirement (4 or 5 doses, depending on how many prior to age 4), so you may want to check on that, too. I personally would feel ok with the polio vax, just make sure it's been at least 6 months since the last one, if titers cannot be substituted.
