DEM / CPM are not legal in my state, so I will be going with a practice that has 6 OBs and 3 CNMs on staff.  I was a very late transfer to this practice with my last pg, so didn't really have any experience with them for prenatal care but my labor / delivery experience was very good.  It went as well as could be expected considering the complications I had and the fact that I was in a hospital.

So I'm back with them, and I don't really care about who does my prenatal care, but hope to deliver with the MWs.  Hoping I can avoid  the high-risk OB altogether this time around.

We only had one last time I was pregnant... ended up having two but one was accidental lol.

Same CPM we used last time. She rocks. I'm hoping for an accidental UC or maybe just having her sit in the other room (which she's cool with) but we'll see how I feel in the moment. I'm not planning a UC because 1) I know it would cause DH stress and frankly it just isn't *that* critical to me, 2) I tend to freak out at the end and desire the support of strong, wise women around me, 3) My MW is totally willing to sit in the other room, not touch me, etc. if I desire so I feel like it's the best of both worlds.

Our last birth we had a CPM and this time we are having a LM. I loved my last midwife, but she got married and stopped practicing. I was really wanting to have an unassisted birth, but my husband is just not ready for that (and I don't want the bad birth vibes) so we had to hire a new midwife. I sent 3 days with the LM at a birth in Aug 2011 (I was the doula). I absolutely love her. All the visits are n my home (last birth there were 2, one at 36 weeks and the day after birth) and her assistant is with her for all the appointments. 

When I saw them on Friday (interview) it was more like old friends getting together. I'm going to have so much fun with these two ladies and my husband seems to be comfortable with them too!

Last time we had an amazing HB CNM, but ended up having a c-section with a very natural-minded OB.  That OB has since started a private practice that doesn't take insurance, AKA he's only for rich people now!

We're with the same HB CNM and hoping for a HBAC.  If we have to transfer to a hospital, she has privileges at one that is a bit far from us, so that would only work if it's not an immediate emergency.  So we could still attempt a VBAC if the situation warranted (if we needed more monitoring for any reason, but it wasn't 100% a c-section needed).  

The whole thing makes me nervous b/c my last c-section was for a reason that can happen again-- CPD, very big baby that could not descend.
