teething and spitting out food?

My DS is one and has been spitting out virtually all of the food he "eats".  i'm trying to figure out if this is from teething, or if he is having issues with eating solid foods.  we've had issues with food allergies and i'm afraid that he is afraid to swallow and that we are going to go down a tough road in terms of keeping him healthy if we don't try to deal with it.  or if it's a normal thing for teething kids?? i think that he may be teething, but this behavior has been going on for several weeks now with no obvious signs of teeth popping through.  so can anyone help me out...is this "normal"?

Well, I don't know if it's normal, but my DD has done that since she started on solid foods. She gets her cheeks all full of food, spits it out, and shoves more in. She's obviously swallowing some (I can tell from the other end). I don't worry too much about it. I figure it's part of learning to eat.
