um, she's sticking things in her vulva.

Not inside, but between the lips. We are leaving her naked a lot to try and potty train, but now Im thinking that maybe that isnt such a good idea. She keeps finding little things like pennies, bottle caps, and food and sticking them in between her lips. I sweep multiple times a day, but she can always find something. Pretty much anytime her diaper is off it seems like she is obsessed with finding something to put there. Any thoughts on how to handle this (besides just keeping her dressed, because thats what Im doing now)?

Hmm.... DD's first attempt at sticking stuff in her vulva happened to be with some spilled salt.  That turned out to be a self-limiting situation.  ("OWWWWW OWWWWWW OWWWW!!!") Maybe leave a tempting bottle of salt out?  duck.gif  Um... otherwise, I would probably just leave her in clothes for now.  I see from your siggy she's not even one yet, so reason is pretty much out.  Oh, but could she be itchy?

cyclamen you must have meant not quite 2 - OP's dd will turn 2 in March.  Reason is still out. Clothes are a good solution, but someone else with a daughter might have more ideas - I have a ds who is intent on showing everyone his penis and telling strange people on the train that his banana (his afternoon snack) is a penis eyesroll.gif

TBH I just let my LO do it and don't worry about it. I don't think she can come to much harm and it's just part of the exploration process.

Yes, thanks for hte catch SSM!  :)  Math never my strong suite, but reason and two year olds?  Never the twain shall meet.  :)  And LOL @ banana penis!

yup.  dd is doing the same thing.  toy dinosaurs, kitchen utensils, etc.

i am pretty much telling her that putting stuff there isn't a good idea especially if it's food-related and that other people don't put things in or on their bottoms or vulvas, and it's not fun to touch things that have been there, just like her nose.

DD is 3 and we just went thru this too!  I kept repeating to her that you can't put things in there b/c it could make it sore.  I told her hands were ok, but don't use fingernails, and she stopped after a little while.

I like this approach. Honest, and doesn't create any shame or anything about touching it and exploring (I would be squicked about putting other objects lest they get stuck somewhere they shouldn't).

I would tell her clean hands are ok, objects are not. I would be concerned about infections or the objects causing hurt that she didn't anticipate.
