What's the point of the checkbox?

In "Im pregnant" and "Toddlers" you cant start a new thread unless you check the box at the bottom tag the thread. In both cases, there is only one choice. Are there going to be other choices, or what is the point of having it?

The purpose of tags is to populate the right column with similar threads based on their topics. It also allows you to subscribe to a tag so that you can see other threads based on topic in your subscriptions. Right now we have basic tagging for topic.

For some forums there aren't specific tags beyond the main title. We do plan to add more tags so that we can refine it to more specific topics. You can post your suggestions for tags and we'll try to get them placed for the specific forum.

Hmm, Ive noticed that any time I start a new thread where I have to tag something I have to go to "Ive posted" to find it again because it doesnt show up in my subscriptions. For example, right now I have a thread in toddlers that I just noticed people had responded to because it didnt show up in my subscriptions.

Not specifically, but with all the other threads I start I am automatically subscribed to them. Its only in the forums that I have to check a box that the subs dont come up under "your recent activity."

What do 'signatures' have to do with tagging threads to increase interest? I'm certain I'm misunderstanding something!

If someone is searching for help about editing their signature and they go to a thread about signatures, more threads that have been tagged with the "signature" tag will show up for them on the right hand side.
