No Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers - yes or no?

Ugh!  Something's gotta give.  I have a 27month old who desparately NEEDS an afternoon nap and konks out the moment he is in a car in the afternoon, naps beautifully at daycare (3x week) but will NOT nap at home for me.  I take responsibility b/c I have not been very structured w/ his napping - I am so often out somewhere w/ him at the park or somewhere that it just works out that he'll nap on the ride home.

If he skips a nap then he is a disaster from about 4pm until bed.  It just doesn't seem like he is ready to give up napping.

I am thinking of getting NCSS for toddlers - anyone used with success?    Or any other books I should look at?

Thanks!

I don't have a lot of time to respond but wanted to say that yes, I found the book very helpful.

I've never read the toddler book, but I found the original to be extremely helpful when we moved DD out of our bed. She's been sleeping through the night since she was 8 months old and she's now 3. I plan on using it for DS when we decide it's time for him to sleep in his own bed. It can't hurt to give it a try!

I liked it.  I also liked Sleepless in America, which talks a lot about how to deal with sleep problems in older kids, but I found the information on body clocks in that book very helpful and applicable to non-reasoning toddlers.  Good luck!
