Vaginal prolapse

I'm 30 wks pregnant with my second. Two days ago I noticed that a bit of skin was coming out of my vagina... Needless to say that I freaked out a bit...I didn't call my midwife because I'm seeing her next tuesday... It's not uncomfortable. Actually I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't looked in the mirror.

My genitals have been swollen for a while due to the pressure of the baby.... I read that after you gave birth your vaginal walls could be weak and with a subsequent pregnancy with the hormones and the pressure that tjis could happen...

I don't really know what I'm looking for... Maybe BTDT, advice

I'm also interested in hearing what responses come about here... I experienced one kind of pelvic prolapse, a rectocele, after the birth of my son in August 2010, which didn't really bother me as long as I was 'regular' and not straining... but it sure threw me for a loop when I first noticed it.  I saw an OB-GYN this past summer, who examined me and said he didn't it was a problem anymore-- he said a woman's body pelvic floor, etc. can take up to a full year to recover from pregnancy and birth, and it looked like mine had.  However, just recently when I had some trouble 'going' (thanks to the pregnancy hormones and not drinking enough water that time), I noticed that there is still some residual thing happening down there... certainly not anything that freaked me out, but still, it's not the same as before I had a baby.  Anyway, I'm kind of worried about what is going to happen the further I go along in my pregnancy, and also, when I birth my baby... I hope I don't have a lot of issues!  Thanks, Memz, for posting that question!

Yes, I had this too but earlier in pregnancy. It's really strange and esp when you feel that you're the only one!  It was during my last pregnancy and it was from 13-16 weeks if I remember correctly. This was a new issue to my mw. I learned how to do the Mayan abdominal massage on myself from another local midwife and did that daily until it resolved. It's great to do anyways (which I need to start doing myself).

 

I'd recommend checking out this website to see if there is a practitioner in your area https://www.arvigotherapy.com/ . There may also be videos there or on you tube of it being done. It's really easy to learn once someone does it to you. And it's safe during pregnancy of course (just a bit modified during pregnancy).

 

Also, ask your mw about rebounding. Which I've heard is ok during pregnancy (and helpful). Rebounding is GREAT for preventing prolapse so maybe it will help now too.

Hi Ladies,

 

Prolapse is very normal post partum and later in life. Up to 75% of us will have a degree of prolapse.

 

Three are six kinds of prolapse that can affect us, three are more common: Cystocel, rectocele, and uterine. Most of the time things heal back up with in 12 months. IF not there are many resources and options. There is a great dvd called hab-it, I love it, It is designed by a physical therapist who dealt with her own cystocele and competes in triathlons! There are also things like electric stem units, sea sponges, pessaries, hormones....

 

I run a site called www.prolapsehealth.com/forums There are hundreds of post of women who are dealing with their prolapse. During pregnancy, and postpartum along with other women in there 50's 60's and 70's. This is a common condition that affects us all and it deserves to be talked about.
