do those of you who have had one child already find you are bigger faster each pregnancy which follows? .. I am curious. :)

I do feel like I am, but in my case, it's because I think my last pregnancy gave me diastasis (separation of abs) and I never did anything about it. So I think the top of my abdomen sort of sticks out and is rounded pretty much all the time. So far, not much showing in the lower belly region, just the same little fat pooch I had before pregnancy.

I am green with envy of all those beautiful bellies!  I'm 11 weeks with my first, and no baby bump in sight yet.  I can't wait for a bump of my own!

Each pregnancy is different... this is my 7th pregnancy and I would say I wasn't really showing much until recently. I have some diastasis as well but not all of my pregnancies were affected by it. :)

With my first I don't feel like I was really showing until closer to 18 or 19 weeks.  I think I'm starting to have an obvious belly now.  But my body was different from the start this time, with the extra weight and belly fat distribution.  So I don't know if I'm structurally different or if everything's going sooner like they say.

13 weeks! :D IMG_8057.jpg

I think I see a bit of a bump starting!!!! What I love about this top is that in person, it is cut in such a way that it makes my boobs, and shoulders and arms look REALLY skinny and trim and nice! So even though I will never be skinny it makes me look like a skinny pregnant woman!

I thought you guys would get a kick out of this.

I'm an American Civil war reenactor and I had to see if my bigger stuff fit me (my weight has zig zagged from 180-240 so I have LOTS of stuff in different sizes, this is one of my bigger dresses from the 240 range. biggrinbounce.gif my brother made it. ). I AM wearing a corset, but its only laced on the top, the bottom, its just laced enough to tie the ties- about as tight as my maternity pants or a pair of spanx.

Now what's funny is i'm showing "more" in this than i would be in my regular clothes, i think its because the corset even though its not laced tight at all, smooths my waist a bit and makes my protruding lower abdomen more... protruding! HAHAH!

(FWIW, I did get my midwive's consent before I even tried it on!!! and for the rest of the season, one of my friends is helping me make "gestational stays" basically, a corset, but its got lacing openings to make room for the belly.)

Hilarious... When I first saw the picture without the explanation - I surely thought you might be Amish but I remembered you were Jewish - so I was REALLY confused.

Friday is normally bump day. However, it's going to be so hectic it might not get done. 13 weeks 6 days

Absolutely! My first I didn't start to show until about 15 weeks. Second baby about 10 and this baby 7 weeks!

ilovechotchkes, we're reenactors here too!  Husband started in CW, but has since moved on to a few other time periods.  He jumps around.  He'll be picking up his CW gear again for McDowell this year, though.  I've gone out with him a few times to other events, sometimes dressed and sometimes just to watch, and really enjoyed it.  Part of our tax refund this year is going towards clothes for me and Badger (and eventually a gown for Sprout), so we can all go out and do F&I together - that's going to be our main time period from now on.

ithappened - Yes and no here.  I started showing earlier this time, but it has sort of leveled off.  Comparing my pics this time to last, my belly is smaller now that it was when I was 12 weeks with Badger.

how about weight? do you find that you gain more or less the same amount with each previous pregnancy?  This pregnancy I am still weighing less then I did with my previous at this same stage but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact I have m/s for weeks this time and not with the others

HAve a look on my flikr stream, the first page for my final belly pic with DS. Than have a look on fb at my isabel photos. She was 2lb lighter, but the back to back pregnancies meant my muscles had no strength and it all flopped out. I look back and wonder how i ever got out of bed each day! I think your first is always a neater bump as you in theory ahve the best stomach muscles. After that you never get round to exercising them enough so it's never the same as the first bump.

I gained about the same weight with both, 2/4lb more with DS because I was sort of already carrying more at the start. I think your nausea at the start means you lost a b it more at the start, but I'm sure you'll catch up! I hope we both manage to be comfy in summer, I am dreading it already. I just hope we get aircon fitted in time.

With my first I gained weight steady, until the last trimester when my water weight explored.

My second pregnancy I gained nothing for a long time and then bam, 5-10 lbs. And it went that way the entire pregnancy. However, I didn't have water retention with that baby because my midwife put me on dandelion and milk thistle to support my kidneys and liver.

This pregnancy I've gained nothing. I also have the dandelion and milk thistle in my pregnancy tea for kidney and liver support.

I think weight gain is very individual to the mom, the pregnancy and how well she takes care of herself (meaning not eating all the junk food and using pregnancy as an excuse).

Personally, I don't have a problem with eating some junk food, pregnant or not. I think for a lot of people, denying yourself completely leads to fixating on the food and inflates the desire for it more.

Moreover, for some women, eating anything during pregnancy is hard. If what they can keep down is fast food or junk food, that's better than not eating anything at all. Just my two cents. smile.gif

CM, I think it really depends on the person.  I'm the kind of person who goes nuts if I allow myself to eat certain things.  I just don't have self-control over things like ice cream, chips, and so on.  So, I just don't keep them in the house.  I find if I just don't let myself have them, I fixate on them less.  So, it just depends on who you are and the kind of personality you have.  I do agree that for some pregnant women, keeping down whatever you can is the most important thing, so if that's Egg McMuffins, go for it.  The problem for me at least is then you have to re-align your eating when you start feeling better.  I'm pretty much out of the m/s stage, but I'm still craving tons of refined carbs because that's what I've been eating.  So, I need to start adding in more lean protein and cutting back on the junk.  I just feel better when I'm eating real food.  Just my thoughts.

I totally agree that it's case-by-case, I just want to make sure nobody feels guilty for eating some junk food, especially if that's all they can keep down! winky.gif

yeap thats me. I pretty have and allow everything I want to eat when I want.. interesting enough my sister is completely the opposite and cannot keep anything in the house so I tend to visit and find her cabinets and fridge total empty which always makes me a bit nuts since I'm such a grazer. . needless to say, I always come home from visiting her a good 5 lbs lighter
