I'm aways reading everybody else's reviews so I thought I could return the favor lol. I just got the paragard yesterday so I can't say too much yet. I'm 22 & haven't had kids. I orginally choose mirvena but then a nurse at the docs office said she had it & it turned her into a huge "b!t($" lol I guess from the hormones. & knowing myself I had a feeling that I would have the same effect. So then she told me about the paragard & that she likes it a lot better. Anyways i went for it, & I admit the insertion hurt a lot& I'm usually really good wit pain. But I believe it's because me "cervix" was "curved" according 2 my doc lol. It was way longer then a pap too. After it was done with I had slight cramping but I'm taking pain pills every few hrs becuz the cramps kick back in. Also I have lighttttt bleeding now. So Let's c how this goes.

Good luck! I've had mine for a couple of years and loved it (I can't do hormonal methods). I definitely had way heavier bleeding the first three months or so, but it leveled off. My periods are still about two days longer, but it's just days of spotting so I don't really mind. Some women have really bad experiences with paraguard and others have really great ones, and there's no real way to know until you try. But for such a cost effective, safe and non-hormonal method, I think it's really worth giving it a shot.

I had my Paraguard for ten years and then I took it out so that I could give my body a rest and cleanse. Six months later, I got a Paraguard put back in, only to get it out about 5 months later because, suddenly, my husband and I were ready to try conceiving. After I deliver, I am definitely going back to it!
